Watch Spidey Tom Holland Drop Marvel Spoilers for Four Minutes Straight

Recently, a dedicated Marvel fan compiled four minutes’ worth of footage depicting loose-lipped Spider-Man and Avengers star Tom Holland dropping spoilers.

During a speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Tom Holland said he was the only Avengers: Infinity War star not to know its ending – in which half of the heroes are snapped into nothingness by Thanos, including Spider-Man’s Peter Parker. And the 22-year-old actor also was famously paired in interviews with Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch, who acts as a handler to prevent Holland accidentally giving away the biggest secrets of the film.

You can watch the video below.

In spite of the best efforts to keep a tight lid on Infinity War’s most guarded spoiler, Tom Holland previously inadvertently gave away the film’s ending to a sold-out Los Angeles movie theater, on its opening night.

“I was with [Marvel Studio head] Kevin Feige, [directors] the Russo Brothers, and the whole team at Marvel. Then what they do is they rent a party bus the night the film comes out. And they drive around L.A., going to different screenings, to introduce the movie or to talk about the movie afterward,” Tom Holland recounted at Comicpaloozan back in May.

While commentating on the blockbuster at the opening night screening, Tom Holland let slip Spider-Man dies, as he mistakenly believed the audience had already watched the movie.

“We went to the screening and someone had told me before they had already seen the film, they have already seen the film,” said Holland.

“So they give me a microphone, then I walk on stage. And I’m like, ‘Don’t worry, I am still alive!’ Then the whole audience look at me like, ‘What the hell does that means? What do you mean you are still alive?’ And then I look inside, Kevin, Joe, and Anthony are all like, ‘Shut up, shut up, stop talking!’ So that opening night, I ruined the movie for about 300 people, so I am so sorry about that.”

Back to the video above, it also recounts the time Tom Holland inadvertently confirmed there would be a third Spider-Man standalone, following 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and this summer’s sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

In the hope of avoiding making the same mistake at Comicpalooza, Tom Holland played coy about returning for Far From Home. The movie sees Peter Parker alongside his friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) embark on their school trip to Europe.

“Actually I know nothing about the future of the MCU, clearly because I spoil everything,’ Holland said. “So I have faith [there’ll be more Spider-Man films]. But I don’t know.”

Even so, the competition of Marvel Studios’ biggest leaker got kicked up a notch with his Instagram live-streaming story. The star posted a self-aware video of himself, revealing the Infinity War teaser poster, only to learn moments later that the artwork noted “confidential: do not share” from Marvel Studios. However, this is the Internet, and everything lasts forever, Tom.

Still, Tom Holland is expected to return in upcoming Avengers: Endgame, out April 26th, before swinging back into theaters with Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” Gets a Weird Trailer

Following the Spidey adventures in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the movie now gets the Weird Trailer treatment courtesy from YouTuber Aldo Jones!

The bizarre trailer also includes cameos from Stan Lee and Hulk (star Mark Ruffalo), alongside the Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), Aunt May (Rosemary Harris), with Batman (Ben Affleck), and Deadpool 2’s superpower-less Peter (played byRob Delaney).

Enjoy this “weird” trailer below!

Back to December last year, Sony Pictures released the official Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer. It follows Spider-Man/Tom Holland after the events of Avengers: Endgame in an overseas school trip with his best buddy Ned (Jacon Batalon) and potential love interest MJ (Zendaya).

However, Parker’s field trip is hijacked by shadowy super spy Nick Fury (star Samuel L. Jackson), who recruits the teenage superhero to combat the “Elementals,” powerful creatures assaulting Europe.

These elemental creatures have resemblances to classic Spidey foes that includes Sandman, Hydro-Man, and Molten Man. Meanwhile, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) appears as a newcomer hero, “who knows about them and also wants to make sure that the world will be safe from them,” the actor explained during Brazil’s CCXP when revealing Mysterio’s own ties to Nick Fury.

“And Fury asks him to come on and help because he is the only one who really understands them. Then he [Mysterio] teams up with friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and unfortunately, he has to make him become more than a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”

The film producer Amy Pascal previously remarked Spider-Man: Far From Home would start “a few minutes” after Avengers: Endgame wrapped “as a story,” while the Marvel Studios chief/producer Kevin Feige hinted the Homecoming sequel title has “multiple meanings.”

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5.

Other Marvel Cinematic Universe films out this year include Captain Marvel on March 8, Avengers: Endgame on April 26.

“Captain Marvel” Tracking For Over $100 Million Opening Weekend

Captain Marvel, the newest superhero film from Disney, is looking to become a monster hit on the opening weekend. According to early tracking numbers, the first female-fronted superhero movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on track to earn more than a $100 million-plus debut.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that studios tracking the metrics for the film were calling it “giant” and reportedly said there was “unaided awareness and definite interest.”

This would make it become the biggest box-office debut since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hit theaters last June, with its opening weekend netting $148 million. Moreover, Captain Marvel could possibly beat out Wonder Woman (2017), the first female-led heroine movie in the DC Extended Universe grossed $103 million domestically.

Whether the upcoming blockbuster can surpass those numbers remains unseen, but you should never bet against Cap.

With that $100 million-plus debut, Captain Marvel could overtake several of its Marvel Studios brethren.

That would put the film ahead of Ant-Man and the Wasp ($75M), Doctor Strange ($85M). Thor: The Dark World ($85M), Guardians of the Galaxy ($94M). Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95M), and Iron Man ($98M). Still, we are not sure if the movie can catch Spider-Man: Homecoming on opening weekend, which sits at $117 million, but it definitely could. Other nearby films are Thor: Ragnarok ($117M), and Iron Man 2 ($128M). However, we’ll have to wait and see.

There are still three weeks until Captain Marvel hits theaters. That means Marvel Studios has plenty of time to drum up even more interest and also reveal more information in the trailers, giving the film more chances at its box office success.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Djimon Hounson (Korath), Lee Pace (Ronan). Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace. Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), with Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel premieres on March 8.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse:” New Stan Lee Cameo in Slo-Mo Footage

In just a few short weeks, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be available in home media. So Spidey fans can watch the Oscar-nominated film in the comfort of their house. It can’t come at a better time as animators from the movie have started teasing the many hidden cameos of Stan Lee.

Recently over Twitter, animator Nick Kondo shared a new slo-mo clip of the feature, showing Lee appearing as a rider of a nearby train while Miles Morale (Shameik Moore) swings by.

Without this slo-mo, we can hardly notice the glimpse of Stan Lee. So fans of this critically-acclaimed hit should enjoy getting their hands on the Blu-ray as it’ll allow them to sift through the disc frame-by-frame. Last month, the trio of Spider-Verse directors also teased Lee had several cameos as an extra throughout various crowd shots in the film.

As for the producers behind the film,

Chris Miller then revealed a still of Lee walking over Miles Morales when he was laying on the pavement exhausted.

This is not the first time somebody from the crew behind Spider-Verse has mentioned the numerous cameos of Lee. Alongside Miller, his fellow producer Phil Lord previously spoke to the poignancy of Lee’s main cameo. It’s the first on-screen role that debuted after the death of the late comic book icon.

“I feel like it has taken on an added poignancy since we lost him, but it still as a moment plays to cheers, and now with some ‘AHs,’ and some laughs,’ said Miller. “I am just happy that we got to put him in a really integral spot of the movie, and sort of at an important and emotional moment for the movie. And being able to honor him in a way that felt like it did him some justice.”

“I think it is a really warm cameo. And we have seen it play with an audience for a new months ago. And it has always been a welcome presence,” Lord echoed. “People are always excited to see him. We have seen it since then with an audience. And there is still a kind of joy in it, even though we all miss him. The audience basically welcomes him back. It is like seeing an old friend.”

So, will you be going through Spider-Verse frame-by-frame? Share with us your thoughts in the comments!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will arrive on home media release March 19. Other Marvel Cinematic Universe films out this year include Captain Marvel on March 8, Avengers: Endgame on April 26, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.

Disney is Officially Stopping Marvel Films On Netflix, Starting with Captain Marvel

We all knew the day was coming as Disney would end its long-running partnership with the streaming giant, Netflix.

Officially bad news, guys. That day is now.

Since Mickey Mouse gears up for the release of its own streaming service, Disney Plus, the conglomerate has announced that forthcoming Captain Marvel will be the first Marvel Studios film not coming to Netflix, alongside its other 2019 releases.

According to a report, cutting ties with Netflix will apparently lose the House of Mouse a whopping $150 million in operating income. Though, there is no doubt that the studio giant will make money up in other ways, especially from its own streaming launch, expected to arrive sometime later this year.

Recently, speaking during an investor’s conference, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the upcoming female-fronted standalone would not be popping up in your Netflix trending queue any time soon.

“What we are basically trying to do here is invest in our future,” he stated.

However, he clarified that these decisions are “all designed so that long-term this business will become an important part of Disney’s bottom line.”

So, despite the moves Disney has made are going to cost a fair sum, the company expectedly will make miles more with the launch of Disney Plus.

“It is almost the equivalent of deploying capital to build out our theme parks,” added Iger. “It is a bet on the future of this business.”

Meanwhile, spin-off shows for some of the MCU’s biggest superheroes and villains are still in the works for Disney+. There are already plans for Loki TV series alongside buddy shows for the likes of Falcon/Bucky Barnes, Rocket Raccoon/Groot and Scarlet Witch/Vision as well.

The House of Mouse is working hard behind-the-scenes to bring the highly anticipated Disney+ to life. As Disney brings its own back catalog as well as original content to the unique streaming service, Netflix is eventually being kicked to the bottom of the pile like a comic book villain.

Obviously, the era between Disney and Netflix is coming to an end.

The deal was signed back in 2012; it means that Netflix has handled the likes of the MCU and Star Wars from 2016 until now. While there was once a time, we could tune in and watch everything such as Marvel blockbusters from Iron Man to Captain America: Civil War, Thor to Avengers: Infinity War, Disney is now coming down hard on Netflix. We have already seen the casualties of the Fox/Disney merger and the introduction of Disney+. And since Netflix once made a name for itself with Marvel TV shows, the likes of Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage have all been axed; now the same fate is coming for Jessica Jones and The Punisher.

This also means that Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the final Marvel flick to be streaming on Netflix. In the meantime, Avengers: Endgame which rolls out less than two months after Captain Marvel, as well as Spider-Man: Far From Home will never come to this streaming platform. Alongside Marvel blockbusters, upcoming high-profile Disney flicks such as the live-action adaptations of their classic animated movies such as Tim Burton’s Dumbo, Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin, with Jon Favreau’s The Lion King, Pixar’s Toy Story 4, and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Episode IX will not also be arriving on Netflix.

With a packed film line-up, it makes sense why Disney is ending their working relations with Netflix this year.

While two of their biggest franchises are wrapping up their current narratives in MCU and Star Wars, both Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: Episode IX are all expected to become massive blockbuster hits. This means that offering them on Disney+ will be a great way to lure potential patrons.

Furthermore, the impending Fox acquisition more likely bolstered their confidence that Disney+ will work considering that it significantly pads their content catalog. Though it remains unseen whether or not Disney+ will be an immediate hit, that initial $150 million loss may not even matter much if the service takes off.

Disney+ is set to premiere by the end of 2019. In the meantime, Captain Marvel coming out March 8 will be the first film held back from Netflix and instead ticketed for Disney+.

Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films will be hitting theaters, including Avengers: Endgame on April 26, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.

“Avengers: Endgame” New Trailer Released During Super Bowl

A brand new trailer for Avengers: Endgame has arrived during Super Bowl LIII. We’ve got you covered.

The new look at the film is consistent with the marketing plan seen for Avengers: Infinity War, which precedes Avengers: Endgame in terms of the Marvel Cinematic Universes storyline. During Super Bowl LII one year ago, Marvel Studios revealed the second look at Infinity War. And this year, Avengers: Endgame will be a direct sequel picking up where Infinity War left off.

Now you can watch the full trailer below.

While details of Avengers: Endgame remains a secret, the directors of the upcoming movie, the Russo Brothers, did open up about their approach to the biggest film in Marvel’s history.

“You cannot chase bigger because you get yourself into trouble,” Joe Russo said during an interview with Comicbook. “What you can chase is storytelling. So, everything for us is based on the story. This is obviously larger in scale than the Civil War because we have more than double the number of characters in it. And it is Thanos. And it is cosmic. The stakes are the universe. You cannot get much bigger than that.”

And while the Russo Brothers knew all along that Infinity War would lead directly into Endgame, their desire to chase that story was so important that they wanted to tell a complete tale with the first half.

“It was important for us because the experience we wanted to have at the end of this story was the scene of emotional completion, in terms of what the narrative was in the film,” said Anthony Russo. “And hopefully, they will have that similar feeling. It is serialized storytelling. The mission was not to make one long movie and get out the scissors and cut it in half because that has never been the most fulfilling cinematic expression. So for us, that commitment was to try and put a beginning, middle, and an end to this, and a beginning, middle, and an end to that.”

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26. In the meantime, Avengers: Infinity War is now streaming on Netflix.

Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films include Captain Marvel on March 8 and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5 this year.

“Avengers: Endgame” Star Anthony Mackie Confirms That Falcon Is Dead

The star Anthony Mackie joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson in the 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Since then he quickly became a recurring face. After his debut, Mackie also made appearances in three straight MCU films, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and Captain America: Civil War. And it sounds like Avengers: Infinity War is indeed a close to the actor.

Eventually, Anthony Mackie has confirmed the fate of his character, Falcon, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Anthony Mackie was asked if the Falcon was gone. And in his response, Mackie claimed that the fate of Sam Wilson in Infinity War left him looking for new work. And that he would not be in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

“Well, obviously, if you did not see part three [Avengers: Infinity War], spoiler alert, that I died,” said Mackie. “A lot of people died. So I am gainfully unemployed. And that is why I’m doing other movies now.”

You can watch the full video below.

Anthony Mackie’s character was one of many heroes and others who disappeared after Thanos snapped his finger and unleashed the power of all six Infinity Stones (a.k.a. The Decimation). That moment has become a pop cultural touchstone since Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters last year. Or just look at how The Simpsons borrowed it for one of their famous couch gags.

Regardless, we will find out who still has a future in the franchise when Avengers: Endgame comes to theaters on April 26.

In the meantime, Anthony Mackie reportedly will return to the screen for his own Disney+ streaming service alongside Bucky Barnes, Winter Soldier. So we can see these Captain America’s buddies once again!

Other upcoming MCU movies include Captain Marvel on March 8th, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th.

Star Wars Franchise May Have Created a Big Marvel Cinematic Universe Paradox

The various movie and TV projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe tend to walk a fine line between fantasy and real-world events. References to the real-life figures, trends, or pop-culture milestones always carries a potential danger of fixing an MCU project to a time and place that does not quite sync with other projects in the universe.

However, in the case of Sony and Marvel’s rebooted Spider-Man movie franchise, there is one reference that now has fans buzzing about a major potential paradox now does exist in the MCU.

Especially, if Star Wars exists within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what will Peter Parker think when he meets Mace Windu? To be clear, it seems quite obvious that the person who posted this on Reddit was doing so in jest. And that is how many fans have taken it.

If Star Wars technically exists in the MCU, what will Peter Parker think when he meets Mace Windu? from marvelstudios

Still, like anything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the Internet, this little Star Wars “plot hole” or “paradox” nonetheless has inspired some serious debate about the merits of the observation. Some fans also argue that it’s an oversight to have Peter Parker and Ned be so obsessed with Star Wars. Obviously when they’ll be interacting with one of the main stars of the prequels soon.

Furthermore, the only thing that Spider-Man: Homecoming confirmed is that Star Wars as a franchise and the Death Star do exist in the MCU. As some other fans point out, there is no evidence that the MCU Star Wars has the same storyline and cast that exists in the real world. To this point: Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury in the universe. And there is zero evidence that an actor named Samuel L. Jackson exists in the MCU.

If nothing else, it’d be great if director Jon Watts leans into this so-called plot hole, including a winking bit of dialogue about it in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. That’s something like Tom Holland’s Peter Parker meeting Nick Fury, then asking Samuel L. Jackson, “Haven’t I seen you in a movie?”

Meanwhile, Avengers: Infinity War is already available on home video.

Other upcoming Marvel Studios films include:

  • Captain Marvel on March 8
  • Avengers: Endgame on April 26
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.

Marvel Fan Released a Short Film of Moon Knight

In spite of not starring in a film or television series, Moon Knight is still one of Marvel’s cult favorite superheroes. And then a new fan film eventually gives the character his due on the screen.

Moon Knight stands out from other Marvel superheroes for some reasons, and the most notable of which is his multiple personality disorder. Several people live inside the mind of Moon Knight, including Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley, and Khonshu, the Moon God that the character derives his powers from.

Eventually, Marvel fan Caden Butera alongside the team at Paradox Studios brought the troubled hero to life in a new fan film. They did a great job just showing how much potential Moon Knight holds.

The movie takes a more grounded noir style approach to the character, with Lockley doing some investigative work on the city’s mob dealings as a taxi driver. Earlier in the film, we see flashes of the Moon Knight. But actually, we don’t see the character fully until later. We also see that the character we followed earlier in the film was none other than Grant. And later, we see Spector dealing with his various personalities in a dark and fantastic sequence that conveys the struggle to maintain his mind.

When Moon Knight finally does appear, it’s as brutal a fight as you’d expect from him. And people get hit in the eye with crowbars. They get their throats slit, and even someone gets a shovel to their leg. It is pretty insane, and at certain points really quite violent. However, that’s a hallmark of the character. And if anything this proves that the superhero could make for one heck of a compelling lead in a show or movie.

It is also impressive when you consider that the film was produced on a shoestring budget. Butera is both writer and director of the film. He just hopes that one day we will get to see Moon Knight get his big screen debut.

“I, along with all the other Moon Knight fans out there, have been dying for the character to get his debut on the big screen,” said Butera. “He is such an awesome and complex character. I hope one day he will hit the limelight.”

You can check out the film in the video below. And for more, you can also visit the YouTube channel of Butera right here. The official description of the movie can be found below as well.

“Marc Spector is a man who has been shattered into four separate identities who come together to become the hooded crusader of vengeance: The Moon Knight.

Steven Grant: Intrepid millionaire stockbroker, taking down organized crime from the top of the ladder.
Jake Lockley: The late-night taxi driver who listens to the chatter of guilty as a means of gathering intel.
Marc Spector: Retired mercenary and seeking revenge.
Moon Knight: A mask-dawning punisher of the night.”

“Captain Marvel:” New Photo of Ronan Arrives

While the countdown to Captain Marvel continues to tick down, fans are ready for their first adventure with the most powerful heroine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The ‘90s set film will feature the returns of many familiar faces, including the intimidating Guardians of the Galaxy villain Ronan, the Accuser of the Kree Empire. Recently, Disney has released a new photo of the character, showing a more comic book-accurate version of the Marvel villain.

You can take the full look at Ronan below.

(Photo: Disney)

Obviously, as we see in the new image, Ronan’s armor incorporates the classic teal colors of the Kree Empire’s Starforce. And it matches more closely with what Carol Danvers and her allies wear in the movie. Moreover, we also catch his face unmarred by the markings of blood he puts on himself in Guardians of the Galaxy. And it shows that this is a less intense version of the character at a different stage in life.

During a set visit, Jonathan Schwartz, the producer of Captain Marvel previously addressed this version of Ronan, played by Lee Pace. He then explained how the character changed between the events of the film as well as Guardians of the Galaxy.

“It is an earlier version of Ronan, who hasn’t become the radical zealot that we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy,” Schwartz said. “So he has his own station in the Kree society, on Hala. And he has his own role to play in the Kree military that interestingly intersects with Starforce.”

While the film doesn’t relate directly to the events of Marvel Studios’ first cosmic movie, there’ll be a through line that fans can follow to see how Ronan becomes the Xander-hating terrorist on at war with the Nova Corps.

“Just like there is a Nick Fury origin story buried in the movie. Buried a little bit deeper is the Ronan origin story,” added Schwartz.

Meanwhile, Carol Danvers also has difficulty navigating her path with the Kree, which will be a major point of the movie.

“I mean, lots of the movie is about Carol Danvers not remembering her human past,” said Schwartz. “When we meet Carol at the beginning of the film, she believes that she’s a Kree, and kind of has been inducted into the army. She is proud as a person. She loves being a Kree. Then over the course of her adventure, she realized there was more to her story than that. So the film kind of becomes her unraveling the root of her own origin, and the root of her own mystery.”

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.

Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Confirms “Deadpool 3” Will Happen

While X-Force may be dead, the creator of Deadpool, Rob Liefeld still expects the Ryan Reynolds-led standalone franchise to continue in “some form, some fashion.”

“That is not a concern to me,” Liefeld tweeted. “Disney paid $60 billion for Fox, and Deadpool is the most valuable asset in today’s market. It makes more than X-Men films.”

According to a report from Variety, Disney purchased $71.3 billion to acquire X-Verse producers 21st Century Fox in a deal that will likely close in March of this year.

Previously, Rob Liefeld commentated that deal meant X-Force – writer/director Drew Goddard’s planned offshoot of Deadpool 2, reteaming Ryan Reynolds with franchise newcomers Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz as a much more violent band of black ops X-Men – was likely dead in the water, calling the potential $800 million-plus grosser a “victim of the merger.

However, the star/co-writer/producer Ryan Reynolds was initially unsure of a Deadpool 3 in the wake of the last summer’s sequel.

As of January, a third movie is in the works under scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who reportedly will be taking the franchise “in a completely different direction.”

In May, when the spinoff looked more definite, Ryan Reynolds said the standalone Deadpool franchise probably moved forward under the X-Force branding as an ensemble.

“I do not know that there’d be a Deadpool 3. Really don’t,” he said at the time.

“I feel like that character, in order for him to function properly within his own universe, you have to take everything away from him. And I do not think that you can keep doing that. But I do see him as being part of X-Force, obviously. I’d love to see him in a team-up sort of thing, like mano a mano or a great female character from X-Men universe. I just think if you are going to do another Deadpool solo film, you have got to really, like, get the budget down to nothing and swing for the fences, then break all kinds of its weird barriers, and do stuff that no one else can do.”

Meanwhile, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that current Fox-controlled properties Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Deadpool would fall under the purview of Kevin Feige as well as his Marvel Studios banner when the acquisition is completed.

Even though Kevin Feige is firm the studio has yet to put any plans with these characters into motion – such moves are legally prohibited until Disney reclaims the screen rights from Fox – Marvel expectedly retains Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, even if the franchise is rebooted when integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, home to the Avengers and Black Panther franchises.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” Star Jake Gyllenhaal Reveals the Reasons He’s Playing Mysterio

Thanks to his major successes early in career, the star Jake Gyllenhaal was regularly considered to play some superheroes characters over the past 15 years. Now he finally made the plunge in the genre by playing Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Recently, the actor revealed that his main motivation for joining the film was the complex character that offered him new challenges.

While speaking with The L.A. Times, Jake Gyllenhaal detailed of his opportunity playing Mysterio.

“It is great. He is a great character. It is one of those things. People have asked me for years, ‘You wanna do a movie like that?’ or ‘If you’re asked to, would you?’ Then my response has always been, particularly since being at Sundance, so many of the stories have always been, for many years since I have been coming here, character-driven. And it has always been my desire, is to find something in that space. It seems to match my skills and also my own honesty. That just so happened that it does with the part. So I am glad that people feel excited about it.”

For many Spidey fans, this casting decision is a dream come true.

One of the films that Jake Gyllenhaal rumoredly had his debut for is Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man in 2002, but it eventually went to Tobey Maguire. Fans have only seen some brief glimpses of the actor in the first trailer of Far From Home, yet he was one of the standout elements that fans immediately connected with.

Jake Gyllenhaal is also known for compelling dramas like Enemy, Prisoners, and Nightcrawler, which occupy a different corner of cinema than big-budget superhero movies. Previously, Gyllenhaal noted that he was pleasantly surprised with the ways in which the cast and crew offered him a more intimate experienced than he was anticipating.

“Actually it feels like a smaller-sized movie when you are acting with the actors,” Jake Gyllenhaal shared with The Late Show. “They are great in this movie. There’s a great cast in the movie. And the director Jon Watts is really fantastic. He makes a space where you can try things out and play around. And it doesn’t feel like you are just sort of automaton, doing whatever.”

We will wait to see Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio in action when Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” Officially Now Streaming on Netflix

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the latest movie to become available to stream on Netflix.

The film is the direct sequel to Ant-Man, following the hero’s appearance in Captain America: Civil War.

You can read Ant-Man and the Wasp’ synopsis below.

“Scott Lang is grappling with the consequence of his choices as both a superhero and a father. But approached by Hope Van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym, once again Scott Lang must don the Ant-Man suit and then fight alongside the Wasp. The urgent mission leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against their new powerful enemy.”

The film is directed by Peyton Reed and written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, alongside Paul Rudd, Gabriel Ferrari, and Andrew Barrer.

Ant-Man and the Wasp stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly as Janet Van Dyne, alongside Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, with Tip “T.I.” Harris, Hannah John-Kamen, David Dastmalchian, Abby Ryder Fortson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Randall Park, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas.

Following Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the second to last Marvel Studios film that goes to Netflix as part of a current deal between Disney and the streaming service.

Captain Marvel will be the last. Beginning with the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios films are likely to make Disney’s own upcoming streaming platform, Disney+, their new home.

Furthermore, Ant-Man and the Wasp also connects to Avengers: Infinity War and possibly to the upcoming Endgame. The film sets up Scott Lang’s involvement in the fourth Avengers movie and a possible trip to the Quantum Realm.

“The Quantum Realm did not exist in Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish’s original drafts,” says Reed. “When Adam McKay came on, he and Rudd were writing drafts. And McKay is also a big comics nerd. Then McKay and I were talking about the Microverse. In the movie that had a lot of shrinking, it would be great to figure out a thing in the third act for the purposes of the story was almost a cautionary tale. And if you turn off the regulator, it allowed us to give Scott Lang his moment of self-sacrifice, where he’s going to kill himself to save his daughter potentially. It occurred to us that we all love the sort of psychedelic side of the Marvel Universe. It is the Microverse in the comics that we re-named the Quantum Realm for copyright reasons.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man Revealed New Suit After Spider-Cop Remains a No-Show

In the meantime, Marvel’s Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 is obviously the gift that keeps on giving. Following the continuous updates and free content, it’s the dream game of every Spidey fan. That being said, it is easy to let the fandom get ahead a little bit. Though luckily, the Spider-Cop demand is hilarious and also did not take the Raimi suite route.

Recently, the studio over at Insomniac Games revealed two more suits that were making their way over into the latest Spider-Man game, though players could not help but notice that Spider-Cop continues to be missing from the line-up. With a potential sequel hinted at for the future, there is no doubt that eventually, this design will make its way over into the title, though for now, the memes commence.

Guess it’s just me though from SpidermanPS4

And Twitter fans had something to say as well.

In the game itself, players can hear certain conversations with Yuri Watanabe where Spider-Man will sometimes refer to himself as Spider-Cop. This hilarious police force alters ego is pure comedic gold, even if Yuri is tired of the jokes. And it quickly became a fan favorite for a potential game idea.

With more DLC on the way and a potential sequel in the works, it is possible this fan-driven suit will finally become a reality. What say you? Would you dig taking to the streets as Spider-Cop? All the Marvel, DC, Disney, and Star Wars Films Releasing in 2019

The last 2018 was a huge year for movies, especially when it comes to franchises and studios that comic fans adore. Disney, Sony, Fox, Paramount, Marvel Studios, and Warner Bros. all put out big films in the last year. But it appears that 2019 will become even bigger. In the meantime, we have got all the films you need to mark your calendars for in this one handy place.

Before we get to 2019 though, the studios all put some great movies just in December alone, which was packed with geeky goodness. If you are a superhero movie fan, you got Aquaman and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. As for fans of Disney, then you got Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins Returns. And if you are a Transformers fan, Bumblebee was right up your alley, making it quite a month for fans.

In speaking of recent Aquaman, Warner Bros. only put out one DC film this year, but boy did they make it count. The blockbuster Aquaman has already sailed past the $1 billion marks worldwide and is already to the top-grossing DC movie ever. However, that is not a shabby way to end the year. And in 2019, DC is upping the ante with two films on the slate.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios had the incredibly successful Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year. The film surpassed the $2 billion mark and expectedly stays the same for the even more anticipated Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Actually, Marvel Studios has two movies coming out during the first half of the year, while Sony is following up the massive success of Venom with a new Spider-Man movie.

As for the House of Mouse, it looks as if they’re going to dominate in 2019 just like they did in 2018, with three live-action remakes on the horizon as well as other anticipated projects, both in animation and live-action. So yeah, Disney is probably going to crush it, especially when you consider that whole Star Wars Episode IX is coming at the end of this year.

And 20th Century Fox will soon come home to Disney. However, before they’re completely moved over, Fox still has a few movies up their sleeves.

Now, scroll down 16 headlines to see all the Disney, Marvel, DC, and Star Wars films hitting in 2019!

Title: Captain Marvel
Studio: Marvel Studios
Release Date: March 8

First of all, the anticipated Captain Marvel will officially bring Carol Danvers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the star Brie Larson leading the charge, we could not be more excited to see what Marvel Studios has up their sleeves and how the movie will affect the next decade of Marvel films.

Sypnosis: “The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the most powerful heroes of the universe while Earth is caught in the middle of one galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is the all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the Marvel Cinematic Universe history.”

Title: Dumbo
Studio: Disney
Release Date: March 29

Following the successful line of live-action films from Disney is Dumbo. The movie has Tim Burton putting his stylized touch on the beloved animated classic. If it is anything like the last several remakes of Disney, it should do quite well at the box office.

Synopsis: “From Disney with visionary director Tim Burton, an all-new grand live-action adventure as Dumbo expands on the beloved classic stories where differences are celebrated, the family is cherished, and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlisted the former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) alongside his children – Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) – to take care of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him become laughingstock already in a struggling circus. However, when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attacking persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits a peculiar pachyderm for his newest and larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Then Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Collette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt Farrier learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of the dark secrets.”

Title: Shazam!
Studios: Warner Bros.
Release Date: April 5

Next in Warner Bros. is the first DC title of the year in the Zachary Levi led Shazam!. It will be the first time of the character on the big screen. And the early reactions to its debut trailer are quite positive. That really looks to ratchet up the fun and humor. And Warner Bros. is obviously hoping to keep up the momentum from the billion-grossing Aquaman.

Sypnosis: “We all have a superhero inside us, and it takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In the Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one-word ‘SHAZAM!’, this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Superhero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart – inside a ripped, godlike body – Shazam revels in his adult version by doing what any teen would do with their superpowers: have fun with them! So can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Or can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip the social studies tests? Shazam sets out to test the limit of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he will need to master these powers quickly to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeis Sivana (Strong).”

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” Revealed Cutting a Spider-Ham Gag Before Release

The animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse elected to steer clear of controversy or confusion by cutting a Spider-Ham joke shortly before the film’s theatrical release.

Recently, on Jeff Smith’s The Q&A podcast, the co-writer and co-director Rodney Rothman opened up about Spider-Ham, revealing the tremendous effort and commitment behind bringing the four-legged Spidey character to the animated film in a way which wouldn’t be so divisive for audiences.

“He [Spider-Ham] was simultaneously the most popular and the least popular character,” said Rothman. “The film really focused on delivering a concise message to the audiences as it developed an otherwise easily confusing multi-verse. In fact, the filmmakers cut a gag that would have featured Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire lending their voices as the respective Peter Parker characters. But ultimately it was cut to keep everyone on track.”

Shortly before Into the Spider-Verse release, Rothman and the company elected to cut a Peter Porker bit. That was apparently slaying at test screening because of its shocking and surprising nature. It’s the scene shortly after Spider-Ham’s moment of sincerity. There, the character of John Mulaney tells Shamiek Moore’s Miles Morales that losing people is part of the Spider-Man job.

“The way  [originally] that scene went is Noir said that he lost his Uncle Benjamin, Peter lost his Uncle Ben, and Gwen lost Peter,” Rothman revealed. “We went through everyone. Then Spider-Ham said he lost his Uncle Frankfurter. He said, ‘He was electrocuted, but it smelled so good.’”

However, this joke “would destroy” with audiences who previewed the film to help steer it in the right direction in terms of quality. So, the filmmakers “just decided” it had to go as the team referred to it as a “bad laugh.”

“Spider-Man is a real person with his real feelings. And we wanted people to get that,” Rothman noted.

Ultimately, it seems that the final cut of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been the right one.

The movie has now not alone won at the Golden Globes but also gets some nominations for Academy Awards. There are very few comic book movies to received such prestigious honor, with praise from critics and fans alike. Not to mention, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has easily surpassed $300 million at the global box office, prompting its spin-offs and a sequel to start production at Sony Pictures.

So, what’s your favorite part of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? Share with us in the comments!

In the meantime, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters worldwide.

Stan Lee’s Cameo in Marvel Heroes Unite Show Onboard Disney Magic Cruise

Late Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee makes a trademark cameo appearance in Marvel Heroes Unite, a stage show assembling Marvel’s most famous heroes aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship.

From there, Stan Lee appears as the ship’s captain, informing Tony Stark party guests of smooth sailing ahead. When the party comes under siege by Hydra and even scheming supervillains Loki and Red Skull, it takes a team of Earth’s mightiest superheroes – the Avengers, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy – to save the day.

WDW Radio host Lou Mongello shared a video of the complete half-hour experience. It features the character debut of Captain Marvel before the heroine reaches the big screen in the eponymous Marvel Studios blockbuster out March 8.

(Photo: Disney Parks)

Other Marvel heroes remain as meet and greet characters at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, soon home to a Marvel-inspired land expected to host Spider-Man and Avengers-themed attractions. It is there Stan Lee makes his cameo appearance in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission – BREAKOUT! ride. And he appears as a bewildered tourist belonging to Taneleer Tivan’s expansive collection.

Stan Lee may be gone, but all he created will never be lost.

Stan Lee passed away back in November at the age of 95. That’s reportedly a result of cardiac arrest caused by respiratory and congestive heart failure. Still, the tribute for this visionary of Marvel has been coming from over the comic book world.

For one more time, fans are expecting to see the cameo appearances of the famed Avengers and Spider-Man creator in the upcoming Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Stan Lee most recently loaned his voice to the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with a touching line. Moreover, he also appeared as an Army general in television’s Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest.

“An amazing thing to be thankful for is that Stan got to see it all happen,” Kevin Feige, the president and producer of Marvel Studios, previously said of the studio transforming many of co-creation into the big screen’s biggest hits of Stan Lee.

“Stan dominated pop culture. He saw it and was aware. And he loved it. I have been saying this for years that the characters he created will outline all of us making the movies. And enter the pantheon of myth which he read and was inspired by as a kid.”

In the meantime, Captain Marvel premieres on March 8. Avengers: Endgame follows on April 26. And Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5 this year.

Captain Marvel

How Nick Fury’s Relationship with Carol Danvers is Different in “Captain Marvel”

When Nick Fury encounters Carol Danvers for the first time in Captain Marvel, he’ll be a younger and less cynical character than the version of Fury that fans saw at the end of Iron Man.

That will also extend to his relationship with Captain Marvel herself, who will become the first superhero Nick Fury has ever met. According to executive producer, Jonathan Schwartz, this means a lot less sarcasm and bluster and even a bit more open-mindedness.

“I think it benefits in the uniqueness by having Carol be the first superhero he has ever encountered or really heard of in his life,” Schwartz spoke to a set visit last year with Comicbook. “She kind of gets to be the window to him for this entire and bigger universe. So, he is a little, a little less of them. I know everything there’s to know. Nick Fury that we see in the later movies, and a little more, perhaps, open to new ideas.”

That’ll lead to some interesting dynamics not only with Carol Danvers but likely also with Agent Phil Coulson. The character worked under Nick Fury in the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seemingly is one of Fury’s only real friends in the modern-day storyline set 25 years after Captain Marvel or so.

Meanwhile, the promotion for Captain Marvel has been steadily accelerating over the last month or so.

And it’ll continue to do so as the March 8th release date approaches. Still, there is a certain level of hype surrounding the film solely because it is produced by Marvel Studios. But people are most excited for the debut of the first standalone female hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Carol Danvers will be making her first big-screen appearance in Captain Marvel. Though her debut was alluded to at the end of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War in the form of Nick Fury’s pager.

Captain Marvel stars Academy Award-winner Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Lee Pace (Ronan), Djimon Hounsou (Korath). Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan (Min-Erva), alongside Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace. Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8. Other upcoming MCU movies include Avengers: Endgame on April 26 and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5 this year.

Black Widow

Marvel’s Black Widow Reportedly Start Filming This February

While Marvel Studios has got their plans through 2019, the company’s slate of film after that remains a mystery. Following projects like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still on hold, fans are eager to see what’s next. And now it seems that thing will be Black Widow.

Eventually, some new reports are up, revealing the solo project will begin filming way sooner than we might expect.

Recently, The GWW and Omega Underground shared their report on Black Widow. According to them, the standalone movie is slated to begin its production on February 28 this year. Then a follow-up report from The Hashtag Show says production will continue through March. Still, there is no official date for when Black Widow filming will reportedly wrap.

So far, neither Marvel Studios nor Disney has made official comments on the production rumor.

However, there is headway being made on Black Widow.

Fans are curious about where the solo project will go. Meanwhile, Cate Shortland has been tapped to direct the film, and Jac Shaeffer writes the script. Thus far, few concrete story details have gone live, but some rumors suggest the film will take place back in 2006 to predate Iron Man by two years. Last year, in fact, a production synopsis appeared online when film magazine Production Weekly posted the following blurb about Black Widow.

“At birth, the Black Widow (a.k.a. Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the USSR breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action movies to present-day New York, where she’s a freelance operative. The standalone movie will find Romanoff living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union.”

The star behind Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson, expectedly will reprise the role as Natasha Romanoff for her solo venture. The actress first stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2010 when Iron Man 2 introduced her character. Originally an assistant to Tony Stark, then Natasha unveiled herself to be a renowned spy working for S.H.I.E.L.D. under Director Nick Fury. However, the MCU has gone on to make the Black Widow an integral character in its narrative.

Black Window will also come up as the second female-led-film of Marvel Studios. And this spring, Captain Marvel will have the honor of becoming the first as her standalone movie to premiere on March 8. Black Widow perhaps hits theaters sometime in 2020.

So, are you ready to know about the origin story of this spy? Stay tuned with us!

“Captain Marvel” Producer Revealed How They Got Inspired From “Wonder Woman”

Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters this year with a binary bang, but the heroine is not the first to take over Hollywood. It was not long ago that Wonder Woman broke barriers with her solo venture. And it seems that Carol Danvers will be taking cues from her DC Comics predecessor.

Recently, during a visit to the set of Captain Marvel, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz was asked if – and how – Wonder Woman influenced the MCU film. And he had the following to say.

“What’s so great about Wonder Woman was talking to female audience members afterward about how they felt watching the movie. A lot of people I talked to said, ‘I have never felt like that watching a movie before in my entire life. The character resonated [with] me in ways I did not even know that a character could resonate with me.’ That was great to hear, and kind of an amazing thing,” the producer said to Comicbook.

“I think it [Wonder Woman] helped us understand how important movies like that are. So that in terms of making the movie feel distinct, all those movies chart their own courses anyway. I think that means making the film feel distinct, not just from other female-lead movies, but all the other Marvel movies as well, that we try to do in every movie. It was not a new challenge necessarily. But it was the one I think we were extra-excited for because of the nature of what this movie means to people.”

It is no secret that Wonder Woman sat well with both fans and critics upon its release. And now Captain Marvel looks like it will land in the same way.

To date, reactions to the film have still been positive on social network media. And the star behind Captain Marvel, Brie Larson, has become a clear favorite within the MCU already. Still, the actress says she hopes fans will be able to break down Captain Marvel like any other film and not praise it blindly for the sake of female empowerment.

“It does not matter what I make. I really feel firm that art is made to be enjoyed and interpreted. And you will get what you need out of it,” Larson said in a recent interview. “My favorite books I have read many times in life, and they mean something totally different to me every time I read them. Art is not made to be processed and labeled or organized in the way that we do it now. Even I have a hard time with that idea of genre. And we place value based off of, ‘Well, it is really good for this kind of movie.’ What is that even mean? I don’t understand.”

“It will be what it is. And I think there is gonna be a lot there for people to digest and feel,” she continued. “Hopefully it will become the movie that you just want to revisit again and again. As life goes on, it will have more to it. And I just want to make art that lasts. I want to make art you’ll grow with. That’s all.”

So, do you have any preference between Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel? Share with us in the comments below.

Captain Marvel launches on March 8, 2019, while Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters on June 5 next year.
