Joaquin Phoenix Celebrates in New Spinoff ‘Joker’ Set Photos

Published

on

With work underway on Batman spinoff movie that focuses on the Clown Prince of Crime, fans are getting a lot of information about Joaquin Phoenix’s new Joker.

The original Joker is currently filming in New York City where Joaquin Phoenix is gallivanting in full-on clown makeup. That caused chaos in the streets and the subways as he took his first steps to become a major criminal force in Gotham.

The new set photos below that revealed Joaquin Phoenix’s character named Arthur Fleck has some reasons to celebrate, as he looks extremely pleased with himself. Check it out:

While some people were quick to call Joker a superhero film, Joaquin Phoenix stressed caution and said the movie could be anything but it.

“I would not quite classify this as like any genre,” he said during an interview with Collider recently. “I wouldn’t say it is a superhero film, or a studio movie or a … It just feels unique. I think more than anything. And probably the most important thing is that Todd seems very passionate about it, and he’s very giving. That’s so exciting. And I think, underneath the excitement of these films, and the size of them, there’re these incredible characters who are dealing with real life struggles. Sometimes that’s uncovered and exposed, and sometimes it is not. So I always feel like there’re characters in comics that are interesting and deserve the opportunity to be kind of study. And so I think that is what Todd sees appealing about this idea.”

Some people have also questioned about the need for a Joker standalone movie or even why Joaquin Phoenix would agree to fulfill such a role. However, the actor is just simply following in the footsteps of legends such as Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Mark Hamill.

“I took a lot of time & consideration when making decisions and what I am gonna work on, always.” Joaquin Phoenix said. “So, in some ways, the process, which’s obviously reading a script and meeting a filmmaker, then continuing to have meetings & discussions with Todd [Phillips]. I think he is so impressive. He seemingly has such an interesting understanding of this world and what he’s trying to say. So there’s something very appealing about that and working with him on this particular project. It feels unique. It’s its own world in some ways, and maybe mostly, it scares the fucking shit out of me or something. It may as well be the thing that scares you the most.”

Joker will premiere in theaters on October 4th, 2019.

“The Batman:” Vanessa Kirby Addresses Rumors that She Would Be Playing Catwoman

Published

By

With Robert Pattinson set in place to star in The Batman, DC fans are already speculating about who will be among the movie’s supporting cast. And one of the most prominent rumors and theories has been that Vanessa Kirby could play portray Selina Kyle/Catwoman. And now finally the actress is speaking out about it.

Recently, during an interview with ET, Vanessa Kirby revealed that she did not even know whether or not she was actually up for the part, but that she would love to step into the role.

“I don’t know anything about it,” said Vanessa Kirby, who can next star in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. “Are you kidding?! I’d love to be Catwoman. Oh my god, it’d be a dream.”

Then, Vanessa Kirby went on to joke that in order to play Catwoman – and put on the sort of skintight outfit traditionally associated with that character – she would definitely need to prepare beforehand.

“Oh my god, are you kidding? I have to do lots of squats,” said Kirby. “I mean, literally, lots of squats.”

After a scene-stealing performance in Mission Impossible: Fallout last year, fans have wanted to see Vanessa Kirby tackle some sort of comic book role. Fans even campaigned for her to play Black Canary in Birds of Prey of next year, a role that went to Jurnee Smollett-Bell eventually. It is hard to deny that an action-packed role like Catwoman would fit in Kirby’s filmography, though the actress apparently did not expect that kind of career.

“I’ve just never thought in a million years I would be an action girt because I am just not naturally like that at all,” Vanessa Kirby explained. “But yeah, there’s something about this, particularly that made me feel like it was such a good opportunity to take care of this female character in the massively male world. And every day, we made sure in every area, that she was a capable fighter that she had all the best fights, and she was never saved by the guys… And I also hope it instills some kind of change.”

So, do you want to see Vanessa Kirby play Catwoman in The Batman? The movie will arrive in theaters on June 25th, 2021. Other upcoming DC films include Joker on October 10th this year, Birds of Prey (& the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7th, 2020; with Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5th, 2020; The Suicide Squad on August 6th, 2021, and Aquaman on December 16th, 2022.

“The Flash” Brings On “IT” Director Andy Muschietti Alongside Writer Christina Hodson

Published

By

Now it looks like The Flash is making headway in Hollywood after a long period of rest. With a slew of development issues, the DC Extended Universe has made some impressive progress with the fastest superhero. Eventually, The Flash has found a new director in Andy Muschietti and screenwriter to boot thanks to Christina Hodson – THR reports.

So far, there’re few details available to the public about the turn. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andy Muschietti is in talks to helm a solo movie starring the Flash. Currently, the report also says the filmmaker and his wife Barbara Muschietti will co-produce the movie alongside Michael Disco.

As for the script, Christina Hodson is seemingly being eyed to rewrite The Flash. The writer, who also penned Bumblebee as well as Birds of Prey, will redo the story. And for those who concerned, Ezra Miller is still attached to play Barry Allen.

This report is obviously a stunning one for fans but exciting nonetheless. The Flash has been stuck in deep developmental hell ever since it was first announced. After a string of director changes, the film pushed back its release date indefinitely as new reports continued going live about this solo venture.

Most recently, other reports suggested The Flash was getting a rewrite by two familiar talents. Not only was Ezra Miller said to be writing the script, but the actor was reportedly joined by iconic comic creator Grant Morrison. Now, it seems Christina Hodson will either scrap the long-reported script entirely or provide some polish to this tandem story.

Still, there’s no word on when DC Entertainment is eyeing a release for The Flash. Andy Muschietti is now busy finalizing IT: Chapter Two before the horror sequel debuts this year. The filmmaker is also attached to some big name projects like Hollywood’s live-action Attack on Titan adaptation, but DC fans are still hoping for an update on The Flash sooner rather than later.

Other upcoming DC films include Joker on October 10th this year; Birds of Prey (& the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7th, 2020; Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5th, 2020; The Batman on June 25th, 2021; The Suicide Squad on August 6, 2021; and Aquaman 2 on December 16, 2022. In the meantime, Shazam! will be streaming on home video on demand services, DVD, and Blu-ray next month.

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Film Reportedly Goes Into Pre-Production

Published

on

By

Matt Reeves’ The Batman has reportedly gone into pre-production, according to the latest update coming out of the DC film rumor mill. DC movie scoopers are now pointing to IMDb Pro as evidence of the movie’s status change, as the site has switched Robert Pattinson’s Batman reboot film from “Script” to “Pre-Prod.”

Take a look at the screen grab one fan posted on Twitter:

“The Batman is officially in pre-production!”

It has already been announced that The Batman would be shooting in either later this year or early 2020, for its release in 2021. So far, Robert Pattinson starring as Batman is the only official bit of information that we have, in terms of casting, characters, and story.

It has been made clear that director Matt Reeves is interested in telling the most detective Noir Batman story that we have seen onscreen so far, with comparisons being made to classic movies like Chinatown. It seems that The Batman is going to focus on Bruce Wayne in a younger era of his life as the Caped Crusader, especially on the road to earning the title of “World’s Greatest Detective.” Hints from Reeves seem to indicate a lineup of iconic Batman rogues being a part of the story, and casting these rogues will be an equally big step of this movie.

DC fans even have been seeing a lineup of fan-casting choices or actors campaigning for roles.

For example, Frozen star Josh Gad has been claiming to play Penguin for more than a year or so. Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens is open to playing Catwoman, but recently, Mission Impossible star Vanessa Kirby was reportedly being eyed for the role. We’re getting hints that the casting process for The Batman may be well underway already, as Josh Gad recently took to social media, ending any speculation that he is the Penguin, thusly:

Currently, it remains unclear when Warner Bros. and DC Films may actually share additional Batman casting information with fans. The studio is officially skipping a Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, which is where they traditionally reveal major details about the next slate of DC Films. Obviously, DC Films has been putting a lot of marketing decisions in the hands of respective directors, so pre-production apparently underway, and it should not be too long now before more of those official Batman details start to drop.

DC’s Joker hits theaters on October 4 this year. Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to premiere on February 7, 2020, while Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020, and The Batman on June 25, 2021.

“The Batman:” Vanessa Kirby Rumoredly Being Up For Catwoman Role

Published

on

By

According to Geeks Worldwide, Vanessa Kirby – the star of Mission: Impossible and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw – is reportedly being eyed for Catwoman role in the Matt Reeves-directed The Batman.

The site names Vanessa Kirby as “one contender” for the part, but does not name other actresses in consideration. The report also adds Warner Bros. likely has not yet entered into formal talks with her, who would play alongside Robert Pattinson starring Batman.

the batman

After news of Robert Pattinson’s hiring as a younger Bruce Wayne-slash-Batman, some DC fans took to social media with calls for Pattinson’s once Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart to play Catwoman. The femme fatale was previously reported to be heavily featured in The Batman alongside the Penguin, a role not yet cast, as part of the Dark Knight’s rogues gallery.

Still, details remain scarce, but last month, an early report from Forbes claimed Batman’s famed sidekick Robin will appear, as will veteran supporting actors Alfred Pennyworth and Commissioner Gordon.

The report also named the Riddler as one of the handfuls of villains who will be appearing in what Matt Reeves has described as a “noir-driven” and “definitive Batman story in which he’s investigating a particular case, and that takes us out into the world of Gotham.”

“I went on a deep dive again revisiting all my favorite comics,” Matt Reeves said at the Television Critics Association press tour back in September. “Those all inform by osmosis. There is no continuation of the [Christopher] Nolan films. It is very much trying to find a way to do this as something that for me is going to be Batman and new and cool.”

the batman

Though his movie centers on a just-starting-out Caped Crusader, The Batman is not based on origin tale Year One or any particular Bat-comic, Matt Reeves confirmed. Year One presented Selina Kyle as a dominatrix operating in the seedy Gotham City.

Year One is one of many comic books that I love. We’re definitely not doing Year One,” said Reeves.

“I’m just excited to be focused very specifically on a tale that is defining for him and personal to him. Obviously, we are not doing an origin tale or anything like that. We are doing a story that is definitely Batman though, and trying to tell a story that is emotional and yet really about him being the world’s greatest detective and all the things for me, since I was a kid, made me love Batman.”

Warner Bros. has dated The Batman for June 25, 2021.

Other upcoming DC films include Joker on October 10 this year, Birds of Prey (& the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7th, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5th, 2020. In the meantime, Shazam! will be streaming on home video on demand services, DVD, and Blu-ray next month.

Aquaman 2 Will Not Be James Wan’s Next Movie

Published

on

By

Despite a studio high on Aquaman enough to greenlight not only a second movie but also a horror spinoff based on the characters in The Trench, director James Wan has other projects to fulfill before beginning production on this seafaring sequel. While there were reports that The Trench might be made before Aquaman 2, most fans had hoped and expected that James Wan’s attention would be mainly focused on the world of Aquaman once his Annabelle Comes Home wrapped its press tour. Instead, during an interview in support of the movie, James Wan teased a mystery project coming up that will likely be the next one he films.

There also has been little in the way of clear information about the sequel of Aquaman, which will follow DC’s highest-grossing film at the global box office of all time. The expectation is that villain Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) will return while some rumors have claimed that The Others, a group of elite Atlantean metahumans, would play a role in that story. And one of The Others was briefly rumored to be making an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

“It will not be Aquaman 2 just yet,” Wan said, “I have something else I’m cooking up. I’m not ready to share just yet.”

james wan

According to an interview, James Wan was previously bullish on returning for a sequel right way. The filmmaker expressed his desire to tackle other new challenges, having made entries and started his own established franchises like Insidious, Saw, The Conjuring, and Fast & Furious.

“I mean, like the people I work with goes a long way,” said James Wan. “That’s the reason why I came back when I did Insidious 2. But it is a weird one for me because actually, I don’t know what I want to do next for the very first time in my career. I feel like Aquaman ticked a lot of boxes for me. So I wanted to do another action movie after Furious 7. And I wanted to do a world creation film, a superhero movie, and literally, Aquaman ticked all of those boxes for me. So right now, I’m in the sort of place of like do I kind of go back and do a smaller movie maybe as my next one, something a bit more intimate; or if I can do a personal film, but maybe it is on a bigger scale. I’m not sure at this point.”

Currently, Aquaman 2 is slated for December 16th, 2022. Other upcoming DC films include Joker on October 10 this year, Birds of Prey (& the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7th, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5th, 2020. In the meantime, Shazam! will be available on streaming home video on demand services, DVD, and Blu-ray next month.

“Wonder Woman 1984:” First Official Poster Reveals New Costume

Published

on

By

Still, it will be almost a year until Wonder Woman 1984 officially hits the big screen, but we’ve just got a pretty breathtaking look at the new movie.

Recently, in response to the news that Warner Bros.’ DC Comics films won’t be having a presence at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H next month, WW84 director Patty Jenkins took to Twitter, sharing a teaser poster for the movie, alongside confirmation that the marketing campaign will not officially begin until December of this year.

The first poster features Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in her whole new suit of armor in front of a neon-hued background and in the shape of a “W.” You can check a closer look below.

Then, WW84 star Gal Gadot also re-tweeted the post on social media, expressing she could not wait to share the film with everyone.

The poster also appears to provide the first official look at Wonder Woman’s “Golden Eagle” stunning armor, which previously had been rumored to factor into the movie in some way. It also hammers home WW84’s period setting in a pretty unique way.

“You know what was cool,” Patty Jenkins said during an interview. “We are treating the era differently than I have seen so far, that I feel like there are a lot of interesting versions of doing that era. And in our version, as a child of the ‘80s myself, yes there was funny, ha-ha outfits that I can’t believe I wore, for sure.”

“But there is also incredible music, and incredible art,” the filmmaker revealed. “And I really feel like the 1980s is mankind at their most extreme and at their best. So it was when we could do anything we wanted and had no idea of the price yet. So we have committed to that version of the ‘80s, where it is not needle drops, and it is not a bunch of jokes. Actually, it is the most aspirational and elegant version of the ‘80s in many places.”

And as the title suggests, Wonder Woman 1984 will follow the titular character in a new adventure set in the 1980s. The cast also has Chris Pine, who will return as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig, who will be reprising Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, and Pedro Pascal, who will be playing a currently unknown role.

So, what do you think of this first poster for Wonder Woman 1984? The film is slated to premiere on June 5 next year.

Other upcoming DC movies include Joker on October 10 this year; Birds of Prey (& the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7th, 2020; The Batman on June 25th, 2021; The Suicide Squad on August 6, 2021; and Aquaman 2 on December 16, 2022. In the meantime, Shazam! will be streaming on home video on demand services, DVD, and Blu-ray next month.

Robert Pattinson Officially Confirmed as Batman

Published

on

By

So now, it’s all set. After plenty of debate about potential casting of Batman for Matt Reeves’ new film, The Batman, including a report of continued screen testing recently, it looks like Warner Bros. has finally made a decision, that Robert Pattinson will be the new Dark Knight.

Deadline confirmed the news on Friday, claiming that the studio has chosen Robert Pattinson to lead a new trilogy of movies as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The initial report that Robert Pattinson had landed the coveted role actually came just a couple of weeks ago, but it was also being reported differently by various insiders and outlets. Some said the actor had already locked down the role, while others suggested that Pattinson was just a finalist. Another report from Deadline says that the entire thing it is now a done deal after a thorough screen test, and that Warner Bros. will be making their announcement any minute.

Robert Pattinson was apparently a frontrunner for the role for a while, as Matt Reeves has been a big fan of the actor. However, WB liked the idea of Nicholas Hoult in that role and required screen tests with both actors. Then, a final meeting was reportedly held on Thursday, where the decision to go with Robert Pattinson was officially made.

This new take on Batman is now set to be a trilogy of films from Matt Reeves. That’s why the contract negotiations with Robert Pattinson could take a little bit of time. Probably there are options worked in for the next two films in the saga. This new series will follow Bruce Wayne during his formative years as Batman. And that’s why an actor in his early 30s was ideal, a stark contrast from Ben Affleck’s iteration in Justice League.

Sadly for the Batfleck fans out there, this new trilogy will have nothing to do with the version of Batman starring Ben Affleck for the past few years.

So, what do you think of this casting? Are you excited to see Robert Pattinson’s take on Batman? Share with us in the comments!

Fans Want Kristen Stewart as Catwoman Alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman

Published

on

By

A subset of Kristen Stewart fans are now rallying in the hopes she wins the role of Catwoman, reuniting her with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, who was named as Warner Bros.’s “top choice” for the role of a younger Batman.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart dated amid their on-screen Twilight romance, a relationship that ended first in July 2012 as Stewart engaged in an affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. A short-lived reconciliation ended in May 2013.

(Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in Twilight)

The femme fetale, real name Seline Kyle, is a sometimes foe, sometimes lover of the Caped Crusader and has yet to appear in the DC Extended Universe, where Ben Affleck formerly filled the role of Batman.

Warner Bros.-owned DC Films also expressed interest in introducing the character when Suicide Squad writer/director David Ayer was tapped to develop Gotham City Sirens, a spinoff that would have centered around Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman.

Back in 2015, Kristen Stewart told Yahoo Movies that she was interested in joining a blockbuster superhero film franchise.

“I love watching those movies,” said Stewart. “I’d love to show people that I can do more than just be ‘Kristen Stewart’ in a different movie, in a different circumstance.”

The actress also pointed to her role as Snow White in the fantasy actioner as a jumping off point for a superhero role. “I am sure I could get on board with Captain America, you know what I mean? I’d just have to be the right thing.”

Last year, a Twitter scooper claimed that Warner Bros. was seeking a “Kristen Stewart prototype” for the role of Barbara Gordon, as known as Batgirl, in the superheroine’s planned standalone films. Back then, Stewart was also claimed to be in contention for the role.

Until now, Robert Pattinson has not yet officially been named the next Batman, a role he would fill for first-time DCEU director Matt Reeves. Deadline previously noted Thursday X-Men and Tolkien star Nicholas Hoult is still a candidate and reportedly a favorite of Reeves and the studio, topping a shortlist that includes Armie Hammer and Aeron Taylor-Johnson.

However, multiple petitions have already been launched seeking Robert Pattinson’s removal.

Warner Bros. has currently dated The Batman for June 25, 2021.

“The Batman:” Robert Pattinson Featured on Fan Poster with Penguin and Catwoman

Published

on

By

While the world is looking for a new Batman, with Ben Affleck stepping out of the role, director Matt Reeves has been looking for someone who could play the iconic character in his upcoming film The Batman. Here is the poster created by BossLogic envisions Robert Pattinson as Batman alongside Gotham City rogues Catwoman and Penguin.

Check it out below.

And you may also want to see his previous artwork that shines a spotlight as one of the hot take candidates: Robert Pattinson as Batman.

According to the latest report from The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Pattinson is the reported frontrunner for the role of a younger and less experienced Bruce Wayne/Batman, who is expected to face off against Catwoman and Penguin. Though plot details remain under wraps, Penguin and Catwoman are said to be two of six Bat-rogues set to appear in the Matt Reeves-helmed new film.

Penguin rumoredly has been the lead villain in The Batman as far back May of last year. A report of Variety claimed that Penguin was once in contention as the villain in Birds of Prey, the Suicide Squad spinoff that will star Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and a team of heroines against villain Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).

Warner Bros. previously expressed interest in introducing Catwoman to the DC Extended Universe when Suicide Squad writer/director David Ayer was tapped to develop Gotham City Sirens, another spinoff that would have centered around Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy.

Catwoman was last seen in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, where Anne Hathaway portrayed the character. In spite of the status as one of the most famous and recurring Batman villains, Penguin has not featured in a major motion picture since 1992’s Batman Returns, where he was played by Danny Devito.

(Anne Hathaway as Catwoman)

“You cannot have Batman without a villain,” Matt Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter in January. “There’ll be a rogues gallery.”

Unlike past movies, which only touched on Batman’s moniker as “the world’s greatest detective,” The Batman will present a caped crusader in full sleuth mode.

“It is very much a point-of-view-driven, noir Batman tale,” said Reeves. “It is told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it is going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It is more Batman in his detective mode than we have seen in the films.”

Warner Bros. has currently dated The Batman on June 25, 2021.
