The Fan Art Imagines the Tragic Death of Captain America in Avengers: Endgame

The writing is on the wall. And Marvel fans are still dreading the end of Captain America’s fate in Avengers: Endgame.

The star Chris Evans has sent fans into a frenzy with his statements about the future of his character Captain America, with many people dreading the potential death of Steve Rogers. Recently, artist BossLogic has riled fans up once again with his latest work. That depicts the final stand of Steve Rogers against the Mad Titan, Thanos.

You can see the fan art below.

We could hardly believe that Cap’s death will be this much tragic. Because if he’s going to go out swinging, it’ll be as the star-spangled champion fans have to come to know and love over the last decade. And even so, he might not go out at all.

Chris Evans had driven fans into a frenzy when he posted on his Twitter after finishing filming Avengers: Endgame, with many fans thinking he was saying goodbye to the character and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It’s an emotional day to say the least,” he wrote. “Playing this role over the last eight years has been my honor. To everyone in front of the cameras, behind it, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

Once the touching tweet made the rounds, Chris Evans had to clarify his statements during an appearance at ACE Comic-Con in Chicago.

“I should clarify that I know when I did tweet something that made many people think that it’s in some way a spoiler,” he said. “But I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I’d tweet the exact same thing. The last day of filming was such a very emotional day, and it’s the culmination of almost ten years of filming with 22 movies. This unbelievable tapestry.”

Shortly after that, co-director of Avengers: Endgame, Joe Russo spoke out on Chris Evans’ role in the MCU during an interview with USA Today. From there, Russo teased that Captain America’s Chris Evans might not be done after the dust settles in the upcoming crossover film.

“I think it’s more emotional for him than it was us because he has not done yet. I will not explain what that really means, but fans will soon understand what I am talking about,” Joe Russo said.

Of course, all of these comments still could not put fans’ minds at ease. Everyone wants to know what the future will lie for Captain America and even Chris Evans. We will learn the fate of Steve Rogers when Avengers: Endgame arrives on April 26th next year.

“Avengers: Endgame:” Why Captain America Gave the Shield to Sam Wilson/Falcon Instead of Bucky Barnes

The end of Avengers: Endgame might surprise many fans, not because Captain America (starred by Chris Evans) did survive in the film, but because he decided to retire and pass his iconic shield down to the right-hand man Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie). It was an emotional scene in which might have raised more questions than answers. And one of biggest questions being, why Cap choose Falcon over his life-long friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan)?

According to Endgame screenwriters, there is a certain quality Falcon possesses that Bucky does not because in some ways he still has the risk of being mind-controlled again.

“It is pretty hard to give it to Bucky,” co-writer Christopher Markus told Variety. “As much as we love him, he’s on the dark path and is still recovering from that. And Sam is really a truly stand up guy. It was not a wildly difficult choice, certainly. I think Bucky has a lot more stories as Bucky and as someone headed on a path of atonement. And Sam has ascended into his new role.”

Also asked by Variety if Bucky’s nod of understanding was scripted, McFeely confirmed it was. “Yes,” he replied. “Our assumption is that he and Steve [Rogers] had a long conversation before Steve went back.” That means Bucky did already know about his best buddy’s decision.

McFeely went to agree with his writing partner, saying it was the story arc to dive into, especially with the series for Falcon & The Winter Soldier streaming soon on Disney+.

“The thing that gets me the most is that it is much better for both of their stories this way,” says McFeely. “Certainly, Bucky getting the shield would provide lots of stories. I do not know if it gives Sam much story. And again, there is a streaming show coming, right? I don’t know what they are doing but Sam having the mantle of Captain America, how he feels about that, and Bucky working or having some kind of relationship with HYDRA. I think that is pretty rich.”

“Again, particularly as Bucky has to confront the mind control past. Captain America has always represented the best of the idea of America, you know? And giving it to an African-America guy… it is great! Not patting ourselves on the back, I am just saying that is pointing toward a better America.”

The screenwriter also made sure to point out that he was unaware of what Marvel Studios has planned for the Disney+ show, even though he thinks Sam Wilson’s movement into the Captain America mantle should play a good part.

Chris Evans Reveals His Favorite Captain America Scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

With Avengers: Endgame looming on the horizon, both fans and the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are now looking back over the last decade of the franchise, reminiscing about the good times we have had with superheroes on the big screen. There is one such star reflecting on his time with Marvel. And that is Chris Evans, who has played Captain America since The First Avenger was first released back in 2011. The actor teamed with The Hollywood Reporter to answer several questions from his beloved fans. And then it was only a matter of time before Evans was asked about his favorite scene he filmed as Captain America.

In case you’re wondering, Chris Evans did not go the route of “Oh I loved so many. I do not know how I could ever decide.” No, this guy did have his answer.

And his favorite Captain America moment is the one that many of us has shared: the elevator fight scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

“I am partial to that fight scene in the elevator,” said Chris Evans. “That ‘s the first scene in the second Captain America film. It’s my first time working with the Russos. And it was also the first time where it felt like Cap was on his own. The first Cap movie, I felt like everyone was holding my hand. The First Avenger movie I just did my best not to get in the way. Then the second Cap movie is the one where I really felt, I suppose pressure. And that first elevator fight scene came out great in my opinion.”

You can watch again this fight scene below.

That fight scene quickly became a favorite amongst Captain America fans. And it’s still regarded as one of, if not the best fight sequence in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since this scene debuted in 2014, other fights in Marvel films have gotten bigger and bolder, but none has been as captivating or flawlessly executed as the elevator fight. And when you mix in the personal context for Chris Evans, it is no wonder that this is still his favorite scene ever.

And when the credits finally roll on Avengers: Endgame next month, the stories of some characters that we have spent a decade watching will likely come to an end.

While nothing has been officially confirmed either way, the finale of this Infinity Saga is probably going to be the last time we’ll see Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, and Chris Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers.

During a Q&A with The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Evans was asked about his memories from the set of Endgame, and he was quick to bring up his last day.

“Getting emotional on the last day of filming,” the actor said. “It was surprisingly emotional.”

Still, there is no telling exactly what Chris Evans was expecting from his last day. But many of us would assume that it would be incredibly emotional to hang up his shield for the last time. Even if Evans is to come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a cameo or something in the future, Avengers: Endgame will still mark the end of an era. And it is likely that everyone on that set had a difficult time saying goodbye.

What about you? What is your favorite Captain America scene in the MCU so far? Share with us in the comments!

We will be seeing the return of Chris Evans in Avengers: Endgame on April 26!

Robert Downey Jr. Breaks the Internet With BFFs Iron Man and Captain America Image

It seems that there is nothing sweeter than the love between the two stars, especially when they are a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Recently, Robert Downey Jr., who is best known to Marvel fans as Iron Man/Tony Stark, shared an image and tagged Chris Evans, starring Captain America/Steve Rogers.

Take a look below.

“BFFs let you share their umbrella, right @ChrisEvans?,” wrote Downey Jr.

As you can see above, the actor included a photo of Cap protecting Tony with his shield. Oh, we love their friendship, on screen and off!

Shortly after that, his Avengers: Endgame co-star Chris Evans chimed in with his adorable response.

Meanwhile, there are still many great responses from fans, who were obviously delighted by this viral content.

“How friggin cute!” @RavenFyre143 re-tweeted.

One fan even posted an adorable photo of some Avengers toys actually sharing an umbrella.

We all love seeing cheery posts from the Avengers: Endgame cast, especially since many fans are expecting the upcoming film will have some dark twists. Also, there has been a lot of speculation on whether Tony and Cap would survive. In fact, there was even a poll to see who fans would rather keep between the two if they only got to choose one. The final results were fairly close so far, and many folks felt so hard for their choices, though, but Iron Man won out in the end.

While this was definitely such a tough call to make, many fans theorize that Captain America lost the vote because more theories and rumors are circulating that Chris Evans won’t be returning, especially since the actor sent an ominous goodbye tweet back in October. Also, there are multiple theories about Cap floating around from tragic to bittersweet. However, the Avengers co-director even added more confusion when he said that Chris Evans would not be finished in the MCU after all, pointing toward events of the upcoming crossover film. So, it seems that Chris Evans might have a bit more left to do with his Captain America.

We will find out what happens to Cap and Iron Man when Avengers: Endgame premieres in theaters on April 26.

Other upcoming MCU film includes Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.

In the meantime, Captain Marvel is currently playing in theaters.

Robert Downey Jr. Jokes Chris Evans as His Prince Charming with the Disney Meme

It has been years since Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have properly shared the screen in Marvel film. But now, a new meme reunites the fan-favorite pair in a pretty amusing way.

Earlier this week, Robert Downey Jr. shared a meme of photos of himself and his buddy Chris Evans. In the picture, their outfits happen to match up with the costumes for Disney’s Snow White and Prince Charming. After the meme garnered a lot of attention from Marvel fans, Chris Evans took a response rather pretty hilariously, joking that he turned the series of photos into his new screensaver and headshot.

The characters of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America) famously faced off in the Civil War, ultimately leading them still not interacting in Avengers: Infinity War. While it is unclear what is happening for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, obviously a reunion between the two would have some interesting ramifications.

“What is interesting about these characters is that they are all heroes,” co-director Joe Russo explained in the film’s commentary track. “And that, irrespective of the events of [Captain America:] Civil War and the fact that they caused physical damage to Rhodey [War Machine] when aliens show up with the intent to destroy the Earth, he doesn’t hesitate, as a superhero, to invite in other superheroes who can help him defend the planet. And I think it’ll be a much different situation if Tony [Stark] were here. If Tony and Steve [Rogers] had to see each other for the first time, it would be much more complicated.”

“Tony is too intelligent and has too big of an ego to be a stooge to the government,” noted Russo. “He’ll take whatever by-product came out of Civil War then use it to his own advantage, keeping the Avengers alive in a way that he feels like is less the compromise, the better for him. So, I think he’s not been actively pursuing bringing Steve, Natasha, Sam, and Wanda to justice. In fact, he has been turning the other way.”

In the meantime, other Marvel Cinematic Universe films will be hitting theaters.

“Avengers: Endgame” New Trailer May Have Teased Captain America’s Fate

Marvel Studios has released their first trailer for Avengers: Endgame alongside its poster. And that may have included a subtle hint at Captain America’s fate in the film.

The Avengers: Endgame trailer teases a shot of a black and white photo of Cap’s old love, Peggy Carter. This is not just any photo though. It is the same photo, in the same compass, from Captain America: The First Avengers. From there, he placed his compass on the control panel of Red Skull’s aircraft while he said his tearful goodbye to Peggy over the radio.

The photo was one of the last things Captain America saw before he “died” in the crash that stopped Red Skulls destructive plans. The presence of the compass could foreshadow his fate in the upcoming movie.

(Photo: Marvel)

Peggy Carter passed away during the events of Captain America: Civil War. That seems to strengthen the sense of foreboding from the image. It feels like Cap is getting ready to reunite with Peggy in a place where their unnatural age difference won’t matter, and where they can finally go on that date he postponed back in the 1940s.

It also appears that Black Widow’s Scarlett Johansson is the one holding the compass in the trailer but not Captain America. This suggests that either Captain America has opened up to Black Widow about his loss, or possibly that Black Widow is just holding onto the compass after Captain America meets his fate.

While fans have been speculating that Captain America will fall in the fourth Avengers movie for some time, speculation became rampant following Chris Evans’ farewell to his character on social media after wrapping on Endgame.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4,” he wrote. “It’s an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last eight year has been my honor. To everyone in front of or behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

At a convention soon after, Chris Evans was trying to walk back that impression.

“I should clarify that I do know I tweeted something that would make many people think that it’s in some way a spoiler,” he said. “But I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I’d have tweeted the same thing. The last day of filming was such an emotional day, and it’s the culmination of almost ten years of filming and 22 movies, this unbelievable tapestry.”

“You feel a lot more emotional than I think, even I thought I would feel. And I feel it’s appropriate to share the gratitude. I know it did have a ripple effect, but I’m neither confirming or denying anything.”

Recently, co-director Joe Russo said that Chris Evans would not be done with his Captain America yet. What will actually happen, we’ll find the answers until Avengers: Endgame arrives on April 26th, 2019.

Chris Evans “Isn’t Done” With Captain America, Said “Avengers 4” Director

When it comes to casting, few companies got it right like Marvel Studios. Since Robert Downey Jr. debuted his character Iron Man/Tony Stark, the studio has brought in just the right actors to play its superheroes. So you can see why fans felt so upset when reports said Chris Evans is done with his Captain America. However, thanks to a recent interview, it seems that the star will have a bit more left to do with the hero.

Recently, USA Today shared an interview with Joe Russo, one of the directors on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. From there, Joe Russo was asked about Chris Evan’s goodbye made teasing his exist as Captain America. And Russo had the following to say:

“I think it’s more emotional for him than it was us because he’s not done yet. I will not explain what it means, but fans will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

Although Russo refused to tell more, the tease has got fans curious as to what the director could really mean. After all, reports have twisted for some time about Chris Evans leaving the MCU once Avengers 4 wraps, but that might not a full story.

For anyone who feels unfamiliar with the tweet which sparked Steve Rogers’ stepping down, it did happen back in October. Chris Evans shared on his Twitter to confirm his work on Avengers 4 has come to an end, and the touching post seems to be his fond farewell to Captain America.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4.” Chris Evans wrote. “It’s an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last eight years has been my honor. For everyone in front of the camera or behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

The heartbreaking post made fans worldwide freak out as they had prepared to bid Chris Evans goodbye. Even so, for those of you still holding out hope, Steve might not entirely hang up his shield. The star returned to social media shortly after that. He indicated that his message didn’t mean to tease Captain America’s fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I should clarify that I know I tweeted something that could make many people think that it’s in some way a spoiler,” he said to fans at ACE Comic-Con. “I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I’d have tweeted the same thing. My last day of filming was a very emotional day. And it was the culmination of almost ten years of filming with 22 movies, this unbelievable tapestry.

“You may feel a lot more emotions than I think even I thought I’d feel. And I feel it’s appropriate to share the gratitude. I know it had a ripple effect. But I’m neither confirming or denying anything.”

Now, it seems that there could be more possibilities of Chris Evans’ future with MCU than expected. Russo’ statement doesn’t confirm the actor will appear in future Marvel flicks beyond Avengers 4. But the upcoming blockbuster may still leave the door open for more Steve Rogers down the line.

For now, we’ll wait to see if Cap survives in the battle with Thanos when Avengers 4 drops next summer.

Captain America’s Early Infinity War Costume Design Resembled U.S Agent

An early design for Captain America’s costume in Avengers: Infinity War shows that Steve Rogers originally sported an appearance inspired by comic book hero, U.S Agent, according to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War – The Art of the Movie. However, this version of the outfit never made it into the film.

Captain America starring as Chris Evans has gone through a lot of changes through his film appearances in the MCU. His costume in Avengers: Infinity War also reflects the character’s growth. At that time, he was a man without a country; a former patriot turned fugitive insurgent after the events of 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

However, while Infinity War dressed the Marvel’s superhero in a faded, tattered version of his costume from Civil War, the early concept art for the film had a different design. Captain America’s outfit, thus, has changed dramatically. It would have resembled U.S Agent’s costume, with more black than the usual dark blue, detracting from Steve’s traditionally patriotic color theme. The concept art would have shared many visual similarities with the final appearance that they passed on. Meanwhile, it also incorporated a color pattern including red and white stripes along the torso, as well as additional red accents throughout.

Ryan Meinerding, Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, explained about the early design. “The Secret Avenger look came about because he was being more clandestine and not part of a larger group like the Avengers. It meant that he could wear more black.” He continued, “that’s where the U.S Agent stuff came out, too, and where he could wear black and red, and see if there was any value in that.”

Following the events of the Civil War, the new look represents Cap’s decision to leave the “Captain America” mantle behind and become Nomad. It’s an alternate persona of Steve Rogers during the early 1970s when he became disillusioned by the US government. However, Infinity War co-director Joe Russo refuted this rumor. He did say the iconic hero would still reflect “the spirit of that character.”

Now, it turns out that Steve might have gotten a look that was closer to the U.S Agent, not Nomad, in early design concepts for Avengers: Infinity War.

In the comic books, John Walker starring as U.S Agent was a super soldier who took place Captain America during the late 1980s. However, after then, Steve believed that Walker’s violent methods ruined his legacy. It prompted him to retrieve the mantle that followed a brutal confrontation. Walker later became a hero in his own right. He joined the West Coast Avengers and re-established himself as U.S Agent. However, in some ways, Walker was the antithesis to Captain America. He’s aggressive, hard to get along with, and tended to be more interested in following orders than leading. After Steve resigned as Captain America for the second time and adopted the name “The Captain,” the first character in the comics wearing the red, white, and black costume was Steve, not Walker. As The Captain, Steve wore the same suit that ultimately went to U.S Agent.

Since both identities pertaining to each appearance fits the direction of Steve’s character in Avengers: Infinity War, it made perfect sense why the black and red costume was a consideration for the movie. Both choices deviate enough from the red, white, and blue colors of Cap’s other outfits. It conveyed the fact that Steve is no longer Captain America. However, Marvel eventually passed on the red and black costume and instead embraced “the spirit” of the Nomad design.

What If Henry Cavill Suits Up As Captain America

With Marvel Studio’s Avengers 4 on the horizon, fans have long theorized that the sure-to-be blockbuster could be the last time for Chris Evans suiting up as Steve Rogers. But when he does eventually decide to hang up the shield, who would be the proper replacement?

According to one fan artist, in particular, Justice League star Henry Cavill could be that suitable choice. Recently, the fan artist extraordinaire BossLogic gave us a look at what the current Man of Steel would look like as Captain America’s Chris Evans. Quite frankly, it’s pretty spot-on look.

Henry Cavill is no longer a stranger to the superhero genre as he’s appeared in three movies for Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe – Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and last year’s Justice League. The time he played Clark Kent, however, might be nearing a close as reports surfaced last month. From there, Warner Bros. was considering shuttering the Superman franchise as they seemed to take their universe in other direction. Henry Cavill reportedly decided to exit his role when talked about a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! movie broke down.

“There is a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn’t work,” THR reported. Another source hinted that this is just one big moment as Warner Bros. has been attempting to “reset” the direction of DC Films. However, during an investor called earlier this month, Warner Media CEO John Stankey backed up the idea. He said, “Some of our franchises, in particular DC, we all think we can do better.”

While waiting for more information on his character in the DCEU, Henry Cavill has debuted a role as Geralt in Netflix’s adaptation of video game series The Witcher.

As for Captain America, even how further he goes, fans were heartbroken when Chris Evans posted to social media after wrapping his final scenes for Avengers 4. Evans shared a heartfelt goodbye to his character, potentially signaling the end of an era.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4,” Chris Evans wrote. “It’s an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last eight years has been my honor. To everyone in front of the camera or behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

Yeah, Cap fans, what do you think about this idea? Would Henry Cavill make an adequate replacement for Chris Evans as Captain America? If not him, who do you believe would be good in the role? Let us know in the comments!

Falcon and Winter Soldier Getting Limited Series for the Disney Streaming Service

Marvel superheroes Falcon and Winter Soldier will be teaming up for a potential limited series at the Disney Play streaming service, Variety reports. Captain America’s best buddies are getting a show together!

Disney has tapped the Empire’s Malcolm Spellman as the writer for the new series featuring two superheroes, which is currently in development. It is the third of the proposed Marvel limited series to be announced but also the first to find a writer.

Early this year, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) both have yet to appear in their standalone movies as well. These limited series will run six to eight episodes with budgets much higher than a major studio production.

However, Marvel Studios and Disney declined to give any comment. Marvel does not want to say anything about their post-Avengers 4 plans, but this is good news about the survival odds for Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes (aka Falcon and Winter Soldier).

Falcon and Winter Soldier, played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan respectively, first met in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as adversaries. Over the years, with Bucky’s evolution from villain to hero, both of them eventually teamed up in Captain America: Civil War. The last time we saw Bucky, he presumably spent some recovery time in Wakanda, where he became known as “White Woft” by the Wakanda people. Alongside Falcon, Bucky tried to help the Avengers in a battle against Thanos from obtaining the Infinity stones. Unfortunately, they got defeated, and both Falcon and Bucky turned to dust.

But as it turns out, Falcon and Winter Soldier will reunite, and with their own adventure in an in-development TV series, that fans started demanding a spin-off movie.

The two actors said they are in favor of the idea of Falcon and Winter Soldier spin-off film. Stan has even visualized their team-up to be something like a buddy comedy from the ‘80s or ‘90s. One thing for sure, frenemies Sam and Bucky have great chemistry together.

We have learned that Disney is developing a third series that will give Marvel fans the Falcon & Winter Soldier television team-up, which they have always wanted since Captain America: Civil War. Falcon and Winter Soldier have been Captain America in the comics during times when Steve Rogers (Chris Evan) was either dead or out of commission. Given the constant rumors that Steve might die in Avengers 4, it could be a fair guess that the series would riff on “Fallen Son” – a story from the comics that established who would be following in Steve’s footsteps after when he was ready to hang up the shield.

For now, Disney is unwilling to confirm any report. So it’s hard to say if that’s what we’re truly getting and even whether Disney has green-lit the show’s development or not. However, we know that the live-action titles Disney is developing for its streaming service will be high-budget shows, that not unlike the movies in the MCU. Disney Play’s streaming service is set to launch next year, 2019.
