DC Fan Art Pictures Scarlett Johansson as Wonder Woman

Published

Gal Gagot starring as Wonder Woman has been one of comics’ leading heroines for decades. The arrival on the big screen only cemented her all-star state. Gadot has become nearly inseparable from Princess Diana thanks to her much-loved performance, but some are wondering who else could have done the job.

Recently, fan art has imagined a world where another superhero starlet put on Wonder Woman’s tiara. However, fans aren’t sure how to feel about it.

The artist known as Bosslogic shared his switch-around with fans via Twitter/Instagram. As you can see below, the fan art put Johansson behind Wonder Woman’s sword. The design took inspiration from The CW’s upcoming Arrowverse crossover.

As the series prepared to tackle an Elseworlds arc, this universe-bending fan art let Johansson embrace her inner Amazon. The poster sees the actress rocking long red hair similar to Black Widow, but her outfit couldn’t be much more different. Getting armed with a sword and ornate shield, Wonder Woman isn’t one to don a tight S.H.I.E.L.D. suit, but Johansson does pull off both looks regardless.

Fans have been quickly reacting to this look, and the feedback has been split. While the fan art itself looks flawless, netizens have grown attached to Gadot and her appearance of Wonder Woman. It could be fun to imagine ‘what if’ when it comes to casting, but fans are more than happy leaving the role to Gal Gadot.

Meanwhile, the actress is busy with her role Wonder Woman as Gadot has been filming its sequel. The production on Wonder Woman 1984 has been on-going for a couple of months, leaving Gadot with many works to do. As for Scarlett Johansson, her year got off to a busy start with the release of Avengers: Infinity War movie. Her character as Black Widow will only expand once Avengers 4 hits the theaters next May. But who knows? Maybe Johansson will find some time to cosplay as Wonder Woman before her next blockbuster drops?

By the way, if you’re curious to see how Gal Gadot might look like the Black Widow, keep calm; Bosslogic has you covered. The artist shared a fan art that switch-around earlier in the week, and you’d like to see it here.

Iron Man Star Robert Downey Jr. Reportedly Returning to MCU for Black Widow

Published

By

It looks like the casting for Black Widow spinoff has not done just quite yet. A new report from Deadline says MCU star Robert Downey Jr. will be appearing one last time as Tony Stark in the Scarlett Johansson film releasing next May. Black Widow will kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, actually set between the events of Civil War and Infinity War, making it a prequel rather than a continuation of the post-Endgame story.

While the casting of Robert Downey Jr. has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios just yet, fans still have their reason to believe that he will be reprising his role as Iron Man. However, potentially that could be just a cameo from Robert Downey Jr. or his very minor role.

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame

Alongside Scarlett Johansson returning as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, the upcoming film will include David Harbour suiting up at Russian version of Captain America, Red Guardian, as well as Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh as other Black Widow agents. The main supervillain of Black Widow is Taskmaster – a formidable foe thanks to his “photogenic reflexes” that allow him to observe and copy any fighting style quickly.

During Marvel’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con last July, the clip of Tony Stark warning Natasha “They are coming for you” from Civil War is used before leading into new footage from the movie. That includes scenes of Natasha on the run, so it is implied Black Widow will explore the period when she is hiding from the United Nations. In that case, Natasha may seek out help from Tony or at least contact him at some point in the movie. Though during the airport battle, they helped Captain America to escape, Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff were still friends. And if Nat were truly in trouble, Tony would help out any way he could.

Then again, while Tony Stark coming to Natasha’s aide during Black Widow is a possibility, any involvement on Robert Downey Jr.’s part might also be for a flashback scene. Black Widow prequel will be exploring Natasha’s journey; it is also expected to develop her backstory further. This could involve flashbacks to her training in the Red Room, but it may include a new perspective on her time with Tony Stark during Iron Man 2. It may even be that Robert Downey Jr. does not film a new scene at all. Instead, his appearance in Black Widow is compiled from previously footage.

Whatever the reason for the return of Robert Downey Jr. in Black Widow, it is sure to be some time before anything official is announced publicly. After all, while it is possible Deadline accidentally revealed something that Marvel Studios wanted to be kept a secret, probably they just got their wires crossed.

Black Widow hits theaters on May 1st, 2020.

Scarlett Johansson Reportedly Begins Filming Black Widow

Published

By

It appears that Black Widow has officially started production overseas. First reports surfaced earlier this month that second unit photography had begun and now, it looks as if Black Widow’s Scarlett Johansson has arrived on location in Ørsta, Norway. Though it cannot be confirmed with the set photos that have surfaced, a high-profile figure with a similar likeness to Scarlett Johansson was seen being picked up from a private plane by a VIP car service. Also included in set photos were signs for Blue Bayou, the working title for the film that Johansson is the producer.

Recently, Sunnmørsposten, a local Norwegian newspaper, has confirmed with their sources that Black Widow is, in fact, supposed to begin filming in the area. Though it is a bit early, previous reports suggested the movie would be shooting at some point in June, with the majority of principal photography supposedly taking place at the Pinewood Studios campus in the U.K.

Still, little is known about the film proper, the latest reports have speculated Black Widow would take place sometime after Captain America: Civil War. Whatever the case, it is pretty clear the film will end up being a sequel in light of Nat’s death in Avengers: Endgame. When Endgame screenwriters Christopher and Stephen McFeely were asked about how they decided to write the character despite her solo movie, the duo admitted they were not fully aware of the project as they started writing the fourth Avengers film.

“We were not fully aware of [the Black Widow movie], even when that became clearer that it was one of the things they were intending to do, but no one told us not to do what we were doing,” Christopher Markus explained.

“Right. And that is a function of her arc, right?” added Endgame co-writer, Stephen McFeely. “She finally found a purpose, a family, and even being willing to sacrifice everything for that family. So I think of her as perhaps the strongest person in the whole movie. She is the woman on the wall in the five years. Even when Captain America has doubts, and I remember he says to her, ‘Maybe we do not need to be doing this.’ She doesn’t share that opinion.”

Avengers: Endgame is now playing in theaters. Captain Marvel launches on digital May 28 and lands in Blu-ray collections June 11.

Avengers Star Scarlett Johansson Gets Engaged to Colin Jost

Published

It looks like some congratulations are now in order for Scarlett Johansson. According to the latest report by the Associated Press, the actress has officially gotten engaged to her long-time boyfriend Colin Jost after quietly dating for two years. Still, there is no set date for their wedding at this time, says Marcel Pariseau, Johansson’s publicist.

Fans over the world are now sending their congrats to the actress and her fiancé. Recently, Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost made a public outing together for the red carpet premiere of Avengers: Endgame. The couple was photographed looking as so happy as could be, and fans are sending their best wishes to the pair.

Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson at the red carpet for the premiere of “Avengers: Endgame” on April 22, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

For Scarlett Johansson, this marriage will be her third. She was first married to Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds as before they separated. The MCU star was previously married to a French journalist Romain Dauriac in October 2014 shortly after having her first child, Rose. The couple then separated in 2016 before officially divorcing in September 2017. And later that year, Johansson began her relationship with Saturday Night Live co-writer and actor Colin Jost.

Obviously, this announcement is a joyful one for fans, and her supporters are glad to hear Johansson is livingly happily. Not too long ago, Scarlett Johansson did remind the world of the hardships which come with being a celebrity as she told ET about a harrowing experience she had with the paparazzi. After filming a talk show to promote Endgame earlier this spring, the actress revealed a set of men stalked her as she left the set and broke numerous traffic laws all in the sake of getting photos of her with her daughter.

“Yesterday, after leaving the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show, I was followed by five cars full of men with blacked out windows. They were running red lights and putting other drivers and pedestrians at risk to follow me so they could find out where I was staying, and they subsequently stalk me with my young daughter for the duration of my stay,” the star shared her bad experience.

“The paparazzi even put people’s lives at risk, so they could wait for days in quiet neighborhoods in blacked-out cars. They try to follow me to the playground and photograph my child and also other people’s children in a safe place that should be off limits, but it is not. All of this is perfectly legal. After the incident, I felt that it was my duty as a concerned citizen who was being pursued dangerously and stalked to go to the local precinct and seek guidance there. I’d encourage others in a similar situation to go to the police.”

Back in 2017, Scarlett Johansson appeared on an episode of “Saturday Night Live [SNL],” where Colin Jost does “Weekend Update” as a head writer along with Michael Che. After that, the two were reportedly dating and began a relationship. And eventually, she is tying the knot with her fiancé Colin Jost.

We will see her return on the big screen as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff when her standalone movie arrives sometime years later.

Congratulations, Scarlett Johansson!

“Avengers: Endgame:” Why Gamora Returned But Black Widow Did Not

Published

on

By

As we saw in Avengers: Endgame, both Gamora (star Zoe Saldana) and Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (star Scarlett Johansson) died on Vormir to unlock the Soul Stone. However, the Gamora still alive by the close of Endgame is a past version displaced from 2014.

“It is not the Gamora that was killed by the Soul Stone. That’s the Gamora from the past,” Endgame co-writer Stephen Markus explained to Variety.

“When Gamora went off the cliff, the Gamora from that time period died. But this is the Gamora from prior to that. So she is still alive. And she traveled in the time machine to the present. You know, as you do.”

“As you do,” co-screenwriter Stephen McFeely quipped.

Meanwhile, the original Gamora, who starred in both Guardians of the Galaxy and the Vol. 2, perished in Infinity War when her adoptive father Thanos (star Josh Brolin) murdered her to win the Soul Stone.

In Avengers: Endgame, Nat prevents her long-term closest friend Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (star Jeremy Renner) from sacrificing himself. And the death of Black Widow gives the Avengers one of the six desperately needed Infinity Stones required to resurrect half of the universe that was vanished five years earlier.

“In our minds, her journeys had come to an end if she could get the Avengers back,” McFeely told the New York Times.

“She comes from such an abusive, terrible, and mind-control background. So when she gets to Vormir and has a chance to get the family back, and that is a thing she would trade for. But the toughest thing for us was that we were always worried that people were not going to have time to be sad enough. When the stakes are still out there, and they have not solved the problem. We lost a big character – a female character – but how do we honor it? We have this male lens, and it is a lot of guys being sad that a woman died.”

Ultimately, Black Widow is the one who dies so the rest of the Avengers can obtain the Soul Stone, and her death has become a controversial topic about Endgame.

One of the biggest criticisms to follow Black Widow’s death was her lack of a funeral. During a Q&A with Endgame co-director Joe Russo posted on Chinese website TencentQQ (translated by Reddit), the lack of this scene was finally addressed. In typical Russo fashion though, he suggested many possible explanations for why it was not in the film.

“Did you forget when the heroes mourning for her after they returned from past? Maybe her funeral happened off screen. Maybe it’ll be shown in future installment because there’re still tons of stories in MCU that are waiting to be told.”

So the lake-set mourning footage was the closest Nat would get to a funeral just before the plot moved on towards its finale, in which the Avengers assemble superheroes from across the universe for one last stand against Thanos, who threatens to burn the Earth to cinders. Iron Man/Tony Stark dies stopping the Mad Titan. And Endgame finished with a funeral for the hero who launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Tony gets a funeral. Natasha does not,” said Markus.

“That is partly because Tony is the massive public figure and she has been a cipher the whole time. It was not necessarily honest to the character to give her a funeral. And the biggest question about it is what Thanos raises there on the dock. ‘We have the Infinity Stones. So why don’t we just bring her back?’”

“That is the everlasting exchange,” said McFeely. “You bring her back, you lose the stone.”

As for the screenwriters, retrieving a still-living Black Widow from an earlier timeline “would have been a weirdly selfish decision.”

“Like, effectively, we are going to kidnap a version of Black Widow who knows nothing about the current circumstances and bring her to the future just so we can have one. It is not really asking her whether she wants to go.”

So the deaths of the Gamora in 2018 and 2023’s Black Widow are irreversible, part of an everlasting exchange preventing their resurrection.

We will know where Gamora goes from here as soon as Guardians of the Galaxy franchise arrives. The Guardians Vol. 3 will be written and directed by the return of James Gunn.

Scarlett Johannson will reprise her role in the first Black Widow standalone film, previously reported to be a prequel set back in 2006, a handful of years before Natasha Romanoff joins Earth’s mightiest heroes. Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow is set to open sometime in 2020.

Avengers: Endgame is now in theaters.

“Black Widow” Reportedly Begins Production

Published

on

By

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow has become a pretty high-anticipated part of Marvel Studios’ upcoming projects. Recently, based off of a post on Twitter, it seems like the film is just one step sooner to hitting the big screen.

A new series of tweets from user @mistermygo, which you can see below, seemingly hints that Black Widow has actually begun production in Black Park, which is located near the UK’s Pinewood Studios. The location is no stranger to the world of genre movies, as it also appears to have been used for this year’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Black Widow will see Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially in her own adventure that will serve as a prequel. The film’s cast also includes Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour, all of whom are in currently-unknown roles.

“It is such a loaded question,” Johansson previously said of her solo movie during an interview. “Yes, I’d want to in the right context and for the film to fit where I am at, where I’m in my life. I mean, I have played this character for a long time. It has been probably like eight years or more, and so much has happened in my life, my life as a performer and in my life personally.”

“I love playing this character,” she continued. “And I think there’s definitely an opportunity to explore the Widow as a woman who has kinda come into her own and is making independent and active choices for herself probably for once in her life. You know she has not always had that possibility so if it fits that criteria, yes I would want to do it.”

Certainly, given what happened to Nat throughout the events of Endgame, her long-awaited standalone adventure may take on entirely another kind of bittersweet context.

“We were not fully aware of [the Black Widow movie], even when that became clearer that it was one of the things they were intending to do, but no one told us not to do what we were doing,” Avengers: Endgame co-writer Christopher Markus explained.

So, are you excited to see Black Widow begin production?

Scarlett Johansson To Reportedly Earn In $20 Million Range For Black Widow Movie

Published

on

By

Avengers: Endgame had several significant ramifications for the future of MCU, bringing ends and finales to several characters. Whether it was to their overall character arcs or their outright survival, there is still a lot of process going forward. Despite the events of Endgame, there’re a few things already in motion for certain characters, regardless of whether they survived or not. Besides, Marvel and Disney are willing to pay a pretty penny to get them back into the fold for one more go-round in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And we can definitely include Scarlett Johansson among that elite group.

Spoilers incoming for Avengers: Endgame.

As we learn after Hawkeye and Black Widow coming to get the Soul Stone, only one Avenger comes back alive. And that turns out to be Hawkeye. Natasha Romanoff sacrifices herself in order to get the Soul Stone. And the glimpse of her dead body shows us that she’s really gone.

While Endgame may have signaled some emotional goodbyes to fan favorites when it hit theaters over the weekend, there is still a standalone Black Widow movie in the works at Marvel once Phase 4 kicks off. Though the studio has not officially confirmed the new line-up, it looks like Scarlett Johansson may earn a whopping $20 million range if the actress returns to star and take part in the production of her own Marvel flick.

This is quite the jump from last year’s forecast of $15 million she was said to be earning. Scarlett Johansson has come quite the way from her over $1 million she made for Avengers (2012). This paycheck would even eclipse Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans’ earnings of $15 million for their solo movies Thor: Ragnarok and Captain America: Civil War. The two actors reportedly made the same sum for Avengers: Infinity War and the recent Endgame.

Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow reported pay would also be significantly higher than Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man first outing of $500,000, Chadwick Boseman’s $2 million for Black Panther and Brie Larson’s $5 million Captain Marvel earning. However, the difference here is Scarlet Johansson is already an established MCU character starring in seven other MCU flicks thus far, whereas these other lump sums were given for their first appearance roles.

No other salary will likely top that of Robert Downey Jr.’s, who makes money on the backend of Avengers franchise. Meanwhile, THR projects the actor wrapped his film with at least $75 million after the success of Infinity War. He also apparently received $5 million a day for three days as Iron Man on 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Joining the Black Widow movie is Stranger Things fan favorite David Harbour, who also dipped his toes into the superhero genre with Hellboy. Cate Shortland will direct the film which is written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson.

Recently, David Harbour revealed when Black Widow might begin filming, saying:

“I think it is slated to start in June. I do not think they have it fully-boarded yet, but it is a great character. I am really excited about it. The cast is fleshing out with Scarlett and Florence Pugh. And I know they were talking about Rachel Weisz. There are some really great actresses.”

So, it looks like that Black Widow will be one of the early Phase 4 releases. Many speculate we will see it on the big screen in 2020, though all official announcements are on hold until Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters in July, ending the Phase 3 of the MCU.

Scarlett Johansson’ shot at her standalone flick has certainly been a long time coming, as it has been almost a decade since she first debuted as Natasha Romanoff on 2010’s Iron Man. Avengers: Endgame broke just about every box office record with its recent $1.2 billion global opening weekend. So it looks like Johansson’s projected $20 million is a fair paycheck.

Marvel’s Black Widow Reportedly Start Filming This February

Published

on

By

While Marvel Studios has got their plans through 2019, the company’s slate of film after that remains a mystery. Following projects like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still on hold, fans are eager to see what’s next. And now it seems that thing will be Black Widow.

Eventually, some new reports are up, revealing the solo project will begin filming way sooner than we might expect.

Recently, The GWW and Omega Underground shared their report on Black Widow. According to them, the standalone movie is slated to begin its production on February 28 this year. Then a follow-up report from The Hashtag Show says production will continue through March. Still, there is no official date for when Black Widow filming will reportedly wrap.

So far, neither Marvel Studios nor Disney has made official comments on the production rumor.

However, there is headway being made on Black Widow.

Fans are curious about where the solo project will go. Meanwhile, Cate Shortland has been tapped to direct the film, and Jac Shaeffer writes the script. Thus far, few concrete story details have gone live, but some rumors suggest the film will take place back in 2006 to predate Iron Man by two years. Last year, in fact, a production synopsis appeared online when film magazine Production Weekly posted the following blurb about Black Widow.

“At birth, the Black Widow (a.k.a. Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the USSR breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action movies to present-day New York, where she’s a freelance operative. The standalone movie will find Romanoff living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union.”

The star behind Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson, expectedly will reprise the role as Natasha Romanoff for her solo venture. The actress first stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2010 when Iron Man 2 introduced her character. Originally an assistant to Tony Stark, then Natasha unveiled herself to be a renowned spy working for S.H.I.E.L.D. under Director Nick Fury. However, the MCU has gone on to make the Black Widow an integral character in its narrative.

Black Window will also come up as the second female-led-film of Marvel Studios. And this spring, Captain Marvel will have the honor of becoming the first as her standalone movie to premiere on March 8. Black Widow perhaps hits theaters sometime in 2020.

So, are you ready to know about the origin story of this spy? Stay tuned with us!

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Concept Art Unveils Hooded Black Widow

Published

on

By

Avengers: Infinity War debuted Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow her most drastic Marvel Cinematic Universe makeover. As it turns out, the concept art has traded her signature red hair and sleek bodysuit for some blond locks and a bulkier battlesuit.

While Marvel fans by and large like the new appearance of Black Widow, some recent concept art of alternative costume design for Avengers: Infinity War Black Widow had them falling in love with the character’s classic look all over again! Well, if you preferred the alternate design for Widow you saw, then you may love the one we are sharing today:

Once again, this design for Black Widow comes by way of Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park.

This version of the costume adheres to the classic look more so than any of the other alternate designs for Black Widow’s new Infinity War combat suit. But it changes the green vest to a full-on sleeveless hooded sweatshirt.

Andy Park once again seemingly acknowledged that his design concept did not quite match Black Widow’s story arc in Infinity War. So here’s what he shared about this piece of artwork:

“Here is another concept version I painted up of Black Widow for Avengers: Infinity War. Again, she is hiding so hiding her red hair might be a good idea. Or just make it blonde ☺ It’s always fun painting Scarlett Johansson.”

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Black Widow has been on the run along with Avengers team. When we caught up to them in Infinity War, Cap’s “Secret Avengers” have been forced to perform heroic missions while still dodging capture by General “Thunderbolt” Ross and the World Security Council. For Cap’s team to remain incognito, altering their appearance would highly necessary. Therefore, the fact that Black Widow simply puts on a hoodie probably wouldn’t be enough of a disguise. As a master spy, Natasha Romanoff would surely have some better tricks than that up her sleeve.

Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films include:
Captain Marvel on March 8th, 2019
Avengers 4 on May 3rd, 2019
Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th, 2019.

Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in Original Red-Haired ‘Infinity War’ Design

Published

on

By

Black Widow starring as Scarlett Johansson has become something of a fashion icon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been a headline-making event every time she changes her look. Marvel Studios debuted Black Widow’s most drastic makeover in Avengers: Infinity War. From that, she appeared with the blond hair and her new battlesuit.

However, you can take a look in the artwork below. Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow could have had a very different appearance:

Andy Park, the concept artist of Marvel Studios, has unveiled his the original design for Scarlett Johansson in the film. It kept the same camouflage color theme and design for Black Widow’s new battlesuit but sporting Natasha Romanoff’s trademark red hair, as well as adding the flourish of a red scarf around her neck. It’s a pretty cool look, right? So why did Marvel Studios just leave it on the cutting room floor?

As the artist himself points out via his Twitter post, Marvel Studios didn’t take the design for one perfect reason: it’s kind of at odds with Black Widow’s Avengers: Infinity War storyline.

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha was marked as a fugitive along with the rest of Captain America’s half of the Avengers team. By the time of Infinity War, Captain’s “Secret Avengers” have simultaneously performed heroic missions and dodged capture by General “Thunderbolt” Ross for years. It has changed their appearance that would be a key survival tactic for Cap’s team members. As the most experienced master of the spy in the group, Black Widow would be the person who probably makes any decision other than broadcasting her red hair with a big red scarf.

The interesting thing is on the way. We will see how Scarlett Johansson’s appearance changes when she returns as Black Widow for Avengers 4. Presumably, Cap’s Secret Avengers will not need to keep such a low profile after the losses of The Snap. So Widow may get free to go back to her usual shine.

Upcoming MCU films include:

  • Captain Marvel on March 8th, 2019
  • Avengers 4 on May 3rd, 2019
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th, 2019.

Marvel Fan Art Imagines “Wonder Woman” Star Gal Gadot as Black Widow

Published

on

By

Gal Gadot herself has made a name as Wonder Woman, but the new artwork featured the DC star as the MCU’s Black Widow. Though Marvel Studios cast Scarlett Johansson in her role of Natasha Romanoff almost a decade ago so she could make a debut in Iron Man 2, some impressive fan art has swapped Gadot in for Johansson.

In the CW, “Elseworlds” is the name that used for this year’s Arrowverse mega-crossover. It features iconic characters swapping roles as Barry Allen became the Green Arrow or Oliver Queen turned into The Flash. And there’s one fan artist, in particular, that took that name to heart.

Bosslogic has done the same to starts in Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Warner Bro.’s DC Extended Universe. In his latest entry into this particular set of fan art, Bosslogic decided to imagine what Gadot would look like if she became the MCU’s Black Widow.

The fan art gave Gadot the traditional red hair of Widow but suiting a slightly different costume. This one had much more red to the design but also had nods to Gadot’ success as Wonder Woman. The Wonder Woman logo features on her shoulder and belt as a fun, new design for the Black Widow mantle.

The fan art comes on the heels of the announcement that Marvel Studios has pushed back the standalone Black Window for a potential 2020 release. Production Weekly reported that the film’s synopsis would feature Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Black Widow around the turn of the century.

“At birth, the Black Widow (a.k.a Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action movies to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative. The standalone film will find Romanoff living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union.”

Johansson seemingly is not the only person to be ecstatic for Natasha Romanoff to get her first solo live-action flick. Co-director of Avengers: Infinity War, Joe Russo, said he’s so happy to see a movie explore the character’s past.

“Yeah, we are very happy about that. It’s such a rich & interesting character,” Russo said. “There is so much to explore with a character whose history was as a villain. And you know, Scarlett did such a great job of playing that character. People get used to that character that you forget the character’s history. So there are many compelling stories to tell about someone who has a dark past.”

Both Marvel and DC are pumping out multiple films on a yearly basis. That just became a more recent focus for these universes to give audiences more female superheroes.

Johansson and Gadot are each the original heroines of their respective cinematic universes. However, only Gadot has starred in her standalone film. She led the most critically successful DCEU one in Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot has currently been filming Wonder Woman 1984. Even though the movie wouldn’t arrive until 2020, it may be worth the wait.

Meanwhile, despite the longevity in the MCU, Johansson starring as Black Widow is just now preparing to film her solo movie in 2020. The movie is set to be directed by Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome) on a script from The Hustle alum Jac Schaeffer.
