The newest era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting closer and closer.
The new trailer for Captain Marvel has made its way online, highlighting the fact that the film’s release is exactly two months away.
Check it out below.

The new teaser does not show any new footage. But it does a pretty good job of getting people hyped for the release of Captain Marvel. With the tickets recently going on sale on Fandango, alongside a slew of new footage and posters debuting on Monday, it is just the latest content for the Marvel Studios blockbuster that fans have been treated to this week.
Captain Marvel was not the first Marvel superhero to hit the big screen in the MCU. But there is a reason the studio is setting her origin before Iron Man.
The film that launched the MCU was none other than Jon Favreau’s Iron Man. However, Captain Marvel is set in the mid-90s, which takes place before Tony Stark ever created his armor. Captain Marvel will see Carol Danvers coming to terms with her human and superman heritage, as the Kree-Skrull War wages on in the 90s.
During an interview, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz addressed the reason why Captain Marvel is really the first superhero of the MCU.
“Funny, really honest, I do not know exactly when. Early in the process of development, I think we seized on the idea of setting in the 90s is a way to kind of let the character carve out her own space in the cinematic universe. And it also gives her a lot of thematic weight and significance to the universe,” said Schwartz. “It is more or less this adventure that’s going to inspire a lot of what we see in the MCU. And kind of being able to see these things in the movie that blossom in other films, and already have blossomed in other movies is one of the big excitement.”
Furthermore, it gave the studio a chance to set a superhero during the 90s. And that’s a period of time that has not been explored yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“And then also the idea of the 90s as a period which is something I don’t think we have been able to explore a lot of. It is far enough in the rearview mirror that it was ‘Oh yeah, the 90s. I have memories of that era.’ But I have not seen it represented much on film. So being able to play in that sandbox was exciting. And doing things like recreating a blockbuster was super fun to walk through. That made me miss physical media in a way I did not expect,” Schwartz said.
So, even though Captain Marvel is the first superhero of the MCU, she’ll be meeting the Avengers for the first time in upcoming Avengers: Endgame.
Captain Marvel launches on March 8 this year.
“Captain Marvel” Passes “The Dark Knight Rises” to Become One of Top 25 Highest Grossing Films of All Time
While Avengers: Endgame is hitting theaters this week, there is another MCU film still making waves at the box office. Captain Marvel, which debuted back in March, has had a successful turn during its premiere, breaking records and surpassing many of other big names in the MCU franchise. Now, the film has earned enough to take its place in the top 25 grossing movies of all time!
Box Office Mojo reports Captain Marvel has grossed $400,026,133 domestically and $1,089,526,133 worldwide. Back in 2012, DC’s The Dark Knight Rises took in $448,139,099 domestically and $1,084,939,099 worldwide.
Currently, Captain Marvel becomes the 7th highest grossing movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The films in that franchise to beat are Captain America: Civil War (domestic: $408,084,349; worldwide: $1,153,304,495), along with Iron Man 3 (domestic: $409,013,994; worldwide: $1,214,811,252), with Avengers: Age of Ultron (domestic: $459,005,868; worldwide: $1,405,403,694), and The Avengers (domestic: $623,357,910; worldwide: $1,518,812,988), Avengers: Infinity War (domestic: $678,815,482; worldwide: $2,408,359,754), and Black Panther (domestic: $700, 059,566; worldwide: $1,346,913,161).
Captain Marvel was impressive from its start, opening to $153 million at the box office, making it the 7th largest opening weekend for such a Marvel Cinematic Universe film the franchise’s history. It even managed to earn the title of highest grossing film of 2019 in only three days, and also scored one of the biggest IMAX openings bringing in $22 million on 964 screens. The movie also had the best international opening for Marvel in IMAX as well as the second biggest international IMAX opening thus far.
Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Annette Bening (Dr. Wendy Lawson), Ben Mendelsohn (Talos), Lashana Lynch (Maria Rambeau), Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), Djimon Hounsou (Korath), Lee Pace (Ronan), Akira Akbar (Monica Rameau), Algenis Perez Soto (Att-Lass), McKenna Grace (Young Carol), Tune Temte (Bron-Char), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law (Yon-Rogg).
Captain Marvel is returning in Avengers: Endgame, which arrives on April 26. Make sure you don’t miss it, Captain Marvel is still playing in select theaters.
“Captain Marvel” Star Brie Larson Named One of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People
Definitely, Captain Marvel did make an impression on fans after her standalone film debuted to over $1 billion worldwide. And the person behind the superhero Brie Larson has made an equally impressive as well. The actress does not shy away from difficult topics, she is always fighting for something better in both her chosen industry and even the world outside of it, and that is resonated with many. It is one of several reasons why she has been included in TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people list and what better way to celebrate than with some heartfelt words from her Marvel co-star Tessa Thompson.
Thompson, who reportedly will star alongside Brie Larson in Avengers: Endgame, decided to explain why Larson is much more than deserving of a spot on the famed list. And we have included her entire piece below.
“Brie Larson is a warrior on and off screen,” wrote Thompson. “When she is not shattering records and stereotypes as Captain Marvel in Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero film – which has made more than $1 billion at the global box office – she is fighting fiercely for gender equality, inclusivity and an end to sexual harassment in the workplace.”
Tessa Thompson also alluded to Larson’s previous comments about wanting more seats at the table for women as well as people of color in the film industry. When she got flack from vocal minorities, it was a message that the industry did need (and still) to heed.
“For Brie, it just comes naturally,” the Valkyrie star continued. “Her activism is the extension of who she is. She sits at a table, and she wants to make sure everyone has access to it. She’s constantly investigating how to be a better ally. And the first time I met her, she was taking a breather outside of an annual adult prom. On the next time, she was hosting a conversation (complete with graph and a PowerPoint presentation) about the lack of representation in the film. Brie has a huge capacity for both joy and serious work.”
“Brie is also primed to be one of Marvel’s next big leaders at a time when women are breaking ceilings in all spaces. She’s in a position to make real systemic change in Hollywood. I am elated to see someone so pure of intention wield that power.”
Both actresses will unite in Avengers: Endgame. The blockbuster is set to hit theaters on April 26. Captain Marvel is now showing, make sure you won’t miss it before Endgame arrives!
“Captain Marvel” Becomes the 10th Biggest Comic Book Movie of All Time
Earlier this month, the blockbuster Captain Marvel just hit theaters, already becoming a wild success. The movie opened to $153 million at the box office, which made Captain Marvel the seventh-largest opening weekend for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film in the franchise’s history. Captain Marvel managed to earn the title of the highest grossing movie of 2019 in only three days. It scored one of the biggest IMAX openings bringing in $22 million on 964 screens. The film also had the best international opening for Marvel in IMAX and the second biggest international IMAX opening of all time.
Now, Captain Marvel has hit another milestone by becoming the 10th biggest comic book movie in history.
According to Box Office Mojo report, Captain Marvel is now the 52nd highest grossing movie of all time. This blockbuster has already earned $910,298,835 at the worldwide box office, falling behind only nine other comic book movies.
At present, those nine movies above Captain Marvel include:
- Avengers: Infinity War ($2,048,357,754 – ranked the 4th overall)
- The Avengers ($1,518,812,988 – ranked the 6th overall)
- Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1,405,403,694 – ranked the 8th overall)
- Black Panther ($1,346,913,161 – ranked the 9th overall)
- Iron Man 3 ($1,214,811,252 – ranked 17th overall)
- Captain America: Civil War ($1,153,304,495 – ranked 19th overall)
- Aquaman ($1,146,648,294– ranked 20th overall)
- The Dark Knight Rises ($1,084,939,099 – ranked 25th overall)
- The Dark Knight (with $1,004,934,033 – ranked 37th overall)
Considering Captain Marvel has only been out for a couple of weeks, so there is still a chance it will continue to rise in the ranks. It is already impressively topped films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wonder Woman, and so on.
Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Lashana Lynch (Maria Rambeau), Ben Mendelsohn (Talos), Annette Bening (Dr. Wendy Lawson), Lee Pace (Ronan), Djimon Hounsou (Korath), Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), Algenis Perez Soto (Att-Lass), Akira Akbar (Monica Rameau), Rune Temte (Bronn-Char), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), McKenna Grace (Young Carol), and Jude Law (Yon-Rogg).
You can catch Captain Marvel next in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame!

“Avengers: Endgame:” Fans Shipping Captain Marvel and Thor
Avengers: Endgame is now moving into its actual endgame. The movie arrives theaters in just a month, so the team at Marvel Studios released a new trailer to celebrate. And it also has introduced a new ship into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So, if you’re ready to move on from Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, no worries, because it seems netizens are convinced that Captain Marvel and Thor are about to become a new “it” item.
The whole thing actually began at the end of the Avengers: Endgame trailer. Fans watched as the reel set up the MCU’s epic battle to save the universe from Thanos at last, but instead, fans now directed their focus to the trailer’s tag scene. It ended with a short add-on starring Thor and Carol Danvers.
That scene shows Thor dressed down in a hoodie approached Carol from behind. Then Captain Marvel turns as the Asgardian approaches, and he stops before her. With a hand reached out, the God of Thunder summons his weapon to his hand, and Carol doesn’t even act so much as flinch. They lock eyes with Natasha Romanoff standing to the side, and Thor ends the standoff with his easy smile.
“I like this one,” the king admits, making the whole comic fandom explode into feels.
You can view the slides below; fans are obsessed with the meeting and all its interpretations. While some of them are simply happy to see the two overpowered space travelers meeting up, others think about a budding romance could sprout between them. But now, we have to wait and see if the ship actually sets said when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters this April, or if Captain Marvel will go “higher, further, faster” without the OG Avenger.

President Kevin Feige Says Captain Marvel Will Lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Now the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering a transitional phase, as familiar superheroes expectedly depart the series following the events of Avengers: Endgame. While compiling reports of films that are expected to debut in the next few years, the future movie slate is dominated by all-new films or sequels to more recent entries into the MCU.
According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, one of latest heroes making debuts in the MCU, Captain Marvel, now will become a major force in the future of the franchise.
Based on his comments, it would appear Carol Danvers will be the key to holding the MCU together.
“The great thing about Captain Marvel is that she is a human. She is a real person, Carol Danvers, who gets these incredible powers and who has these amazing adventures in outer space,” Kevin Feige previously confirmed in Captain Marvel: The Official Movie Special. “As with all the best Marvel characters, Carol Danvers needs to be very human. And so, this is not just about somebody who is incredibly powerful or can fly around and even shoot photon blasts out of her hands. It is somebody who is very human, who is very vulnerable, and who has multiple dimensions.”
As we all knew, Tony Stark debuted in Iron Man, kicking off the MCU. While there is not an official “leader” of the Avengers, both Iron Man and Captain America have been the most prominent figures in the franchise, as it’s the lessons that they learned over the course of their lives that would motivate their heroism. In the regard, it seems as though Captain Marvel would make a better choice to drive the MCU forward than, say, the Guardians of the Galaxy.“
“When we found out Brie Larson might be interested in joining our world, we had a number of meetings,” added Kevin Feige. “She was a huge fan of her character in the comics. And one of the highlights of my career at Marvel was introducing Brie at Comic-Con and having her come out on stage; then she stands there with literally almost everybody else from our movies. There she was at the forefront, and that was a great foreshadowing – not just for how audiences are going to embrace her as the character, but also for how Captain Marvel is about to take the lead and she’ll be at the forefront of this entire Cinematic Universe.”
Based on the popularity of Captain Marvel, the formula of Kevin Feige looks to be proving correct about the future face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain Marvel is already in theaters.

“Captain Marvel” Directors Pitch a Spin-off Movie for Goose the Cat
Captain Marvel is resonating with fans for a variety of reasons, though it’s hard to argue that a certain loveable cat named Goose is also one of the stars of the film. The furry feline was responsible for some of the most humorous and endearing moments in the film and was always on the film wishlist of directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Eventually, we learned there was much more to the cat than shown in the trailers. And part of his impressive abilities could make for a very entertaining spinoff movie. That’s obviously good news for fans of Goose.
During a new interview with Empire Podcast, Fleck and Boden were asked about Goose and if he was a part of this plan.
“Definitely always,” Boden said. “That was one of the very first ideas when we were all getting in a room together with the guys at Marvel and our co-writers. We were throwing ideas on a blackboard with no idea what the structure of the story is going to be, just like what might we want to see from the comics in the movie. That was definitely one of the very top things we always wanted to see. It is so awesome in the comics. I mean, a cat, who is a Flerken, who has pocket dimensions? I mean there was no way that was not going to end up in the movie.”
Ryan Fleck then continued to wonder what a Goose movie could look like and envisioned one humorous scenario involving Talos.
“I wonder what goes on inside,” the co-director said. “Like you said if there were a spinoff, maybe we will go inside the Flerken. Like what if Talos got sucked in and then you could spend time with a Flerken and Talos.”
“It is what he feared all along. That he was going to end up in pocket dimensions inside that Flerken,” added Boden.
Speaking of Talos’ fear of Flerkens, that comes directly from the comics, though it required a little tweaking for the film.
“Well, that is also from the comics,” Boden explained. “I mean in the comics it is Rocket who is scared of the Flerken. And we did not have Rocket in this movie. But we just thought it would be so funny for Talos who is like our baddie, our villain. And he is kind of threating this whole group of people, and then he sees the little cute adorable cat Goose, and it scared the living bejesus out of him. So we thought that was just a funny scene and a funny moment. That is where we kind of flipped the idea and turned it into the Skrull that is scared of the Flerken.”
You can watch more about the little co-star in the video below.
So, are you looking forward to a spinoff for this favorite Goose the cat?
Captain Marvel is now in theaters.
The Original Ending of “Captain Marvel” Revealed
Entering the film’s second weekend at the box office, Captain Marvel is yet another bonafide hit for Marvel Studios. While still positioning Carol Danvers for her major role in the future, the comic book movie has explored an era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that fans have yet to see. Captain Marvel ended on an optimistic note, giving the heroine a clear goal moving forward, but it was not always planned that way.
During an interview with editor Debbie Berman, who previously handled Spider-Man: Homecoming and Black Panther, she revealed that Captain Marvel directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden originally had different plans for the ending of this blockbuster.
Warning: spoilers for Captain Marvel.
“Actually I did suggest some tweaks to the ending of this film. It used to end with Carol Danvers flying off into space alone. But I found that a bit jarring,” Berman shared with Entertainment Tonight. “It’s like, exactly where was she going? What was she doing? And it felt like we needed a stronger visual to assert a more specific justification for her leaving and disappearing for so many years.”
“So we added Talos and his family in their spaceship waiting for her, and they all fly off together. That gave her more of a sense of purpose and made it easier to believe that she left her newfound life on Earth because she was with a friend we knew she cared about, and for a more specific mission. It also gave more resonance and closure to her final moment in the film,” added Berman.
And at the end of the film, Captain Marvel has learned of the Kree’s deception and their attempts to eradicate the Skrulls. So Carol changes allegiances and decides to help the Skrulls find a new homeworld.
That shift might have lost some its impact if Captain Marvel just flew up into space by herself. However, seeing her join the surviving Skrulls makes it clear that she has a clear goal moving forward. Eventually, Debbie Berman did help improve the movie and helped establish a potential sequel for the future.
Captain Marvel is playing in theaters now.
“Captain Marvel” Star Brie Larson Reveals Her Favorite Superhero Is Wonder Woman
Currently, Brie Larson’s portrayal of Captain Marvel is commanding the box office. And it looks like another female superhero has a special place in her heart.
During an interview with The Female Lead on the film’s red carpet, a young fan asked Brie Larson what female superhero is her favorite. And the actress revealed, she’s a fan of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman from DC.
“I really like Wonder Woman a lot,” Larson said. “I think she is super cool.”
Brie Larson has mentioned Wonder Woman in a fair share of other interviews. Recently, the director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins took to social media to congratulate the team behind Captain Marvel on its success. And the film star Gal Gadot also shared artwork of the two with her kind words to Larson.
With Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel being the first two female-fronted solo superhero films in the modern-day DC and Marvel cinematic universes, it is safe to say that both have ended up making quite an impact.
“What was great about Wonder Woman was talking to female audience members afterward about how they felt watching the movie,” said the executive producer Jonathan Schwartz. “A lot of people I talked to just said. ‘I have never felt like that watching a movie before in my entire life. The character resonated with me in the ways I did not even know a character could resonate with me.’ That was so great to hear, and kind of an amazing thing.”
“I think the movie helped us understand how important movies like that are,” continued Schwartz. “So, in terms of making the movie [Wonder Woman] feel distinct, I think all these films chart their own courses anyway. And I think that means making the movie feel distinct. Not just from other female-led movies, but from all the Marvel movies as well, which I think we’ll try to do in every movie. It was not a new challenge necessarily. But it was the one I think we were extra-excited for because of the nature of what this movie means to people.”
Upcoming DC films include:
- Shazam! on April 5
- Joker on October 10
- Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020
- Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020
- The Batman on June 25, 2021
- The Suicide Squad on August 6, 2021
- Aquaman 2 on December 16, 2022.

“Captain Marvel” Becomes the Highest Grossing Film of 2019 So Far Within Only 3 Days
Since Captain Marvel has only been hitting theaters for three days, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film is already the highest grossing film for 2019 so far.
At the moment, with its opening weekend total of $157 million, Captain Marvel is not just soaring to the top of the box office for the weekend, it is also sitting there as the top-grossing blockbuster thus far for 2019. Obviously, that is an impressive feat when we realize that in order to become the top-grossing movie at the box office, the Brie Larson-starring movie is beating the total domestic box office take for the full theatrical run of the rest of the film.
At present, the closest competitor of Captain Marvel is How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. The movie, which is currently sitting at $119.7 million, opened since February 22. Coming in third is M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson, with $109.7 million.
However, while Captain Marvel is unlikely to maintain the overall top spot by year’s end, there are still quite a few movies hitting theaters yet in 2019, including the massively-anticipated Avengers: Endgame – if the box office success continues, Captain Marvel could remain pretty high on the list.
As the first Marvel Studios film headlined by a heroine, Captain Marvel has drawn some comparisons to Black Panther, which was the first movie led by a black hero in MCU.
In addition to the impressive opening domestically, Captain Marvel is also set for a $455 million global – the biggest worldwide opening ever for a female-led movie. Furthermore, this blockbuster is also the second-largest global opening ever for a Marvel Studios film, right behind only last year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
So, are you surprised by Captain Marvel’s box office success? The film is already in theaters now.
