“Captain Marvel” Directors Pitch a Spin-off Movie for Goose the Cat

Captain Marvel is resonating with fans for a variety of reasons, though it’s hard to argue that a certain loveable cat named Goose is also one of the stars of the film. The furry feline was responsible for some of the most humorous and endearing moments in the film and was always on the film wishlist of directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Eventually, we learned there was much more to the cat than shown in the trailers. And part of his impressive abilities could make for a very entertaining spinoff movie. That’s obviously good news for fans of Goose.

During a new interview with Empire Podcast, Fleck and Boden were asked about Goose and if he was a part of this plan.

“Definitely always,” Boden said. “That was one of the very first ideas when we were all getting in a room together with the guys at Marvel and our co-writers. We were throwing ideas on a blackboard with no idea what the structure of the story is going to be, just like what might we want to see from the comics in the movie. That was definitely one of the very top things we always wanted to see. It is so awesome in the comics. I mean, a cat, who is a Flerken, who has pocket dimensions? I mean there was no way that was not going to end up in the movie.”

Ryan Fleck then continued to wonder what a Goose movie could look like and envisioned one humorous scenario involving Talos.

“I wonder what goes on inside,” the co-director said. “Like you said if there were a spinoff, maybe we will go inside the Flerken. Like what if Talos got sucked in and then you could spend time with a Flerken and Talos.”

“It is what he feared all along. That he was going to end up in pocket dimensions inside that Flerken,” added Boden.

Speaking of Talos’ fear of Flerkens, that comes directly from the comics, though it required a little tweaking for the film.

“Well, that is also from the comics,” Boden explained. “I mean in the comics it is Rocket who is scared of the Flerken. And we did not have Rocket in this movie. But we just thought it would be so funny for Talos who is like our baddie, our villain. And he is kind of threating this whole group of people, and then he sees the little cute adorable cat Goose, and it scared the living bejesus out of him. So we thought that was just a funny scene and a funny moment. That is where we kind of flipped the idea and turned it into the Skrull that is scared of the Flerken.”

You can watch more about the little co-star in the video below.

So, are you looking forward to a spinoff for this favorite Goose the cat?

“Avengers: Endgame:” Fans Shipping Captain Marvel and Thor

Avengers: Endgame is now moving into its actual endgame. The movie arrives theaters in just a month, so the team at Marvel Studios released a new trailer to celebrate. And it also has introduced a new ship into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So, if you’re ready to move on from Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, no worries, because it seems netizens are convinced that Captain Marvel and Thor are about to become a new “it” item.

The whole thing actually began at the end of the Avengers: Endgame trailer. Fans watched as the reel set up the MCU’s epic battle to save the universe from Thanos at last, but instead, fans now directed their focus to the trailer’s tag scene. It ended with a short add-on starring Thor and Carol Danvers.

That scene shows Thor dressed down in a hoodie approached Carol from behind. Then Captain Marvel turns as the Asgardian approaches, and he stops before her. With a hand reached out, the God of Thunder summons his weapon to his hand, and Carol doesn’t even act so much as flinch. They lock eyes with Natasha Romanoff standing to the side, and Thor ends the standoff with his easy smile.

I like this one,” the king admits, making the whole comic fandom explode into feels.

You can view the slides below; fans are obsessed with the meeting and all its interpretations. While some of them are simply happy to see the two overpowered space travelers meeting up, others think about a budding romance could sprout between them. But now, we have to wait and see if the ship actually sets said when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters this April, or if Captain Marvel will go “higher, further, faster” without the OG Avenger.

07. HELLO!

and so on.

How about you? What is your thought of this growing ship? Share with us in the comments!

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26. And you can also check out the debut of Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, now playing in theaters.

President Kevin Feige Says Captain Marvel Will Lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Now the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering a transitional phase, as familiar superheroes expectedly depart the series following the events of Avengers: Endgame. While compiling reports of films that are expected to debut in the next few years, the future movie slate is dominated by all-new films or sequels to more recent entries into the MCU.

According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, one of latest heroes making debuts in the MCU, Captain Marvel, now will become a major force in the future of the franchise.

Based on his comments, it would appear Carol Danvers will be the key to holding the MCU together.

“The great thing about Captain Marvel is that she is a human. She is a real person, Carol Danvers, who gets these incredible powers and who has these amazing adventures in outer space,” Kevin Feige previously confirmed in Captain Marvel: The Official Movie Special. “As with all the best Marvel characters, Carol Danvers needs to be very human. And so, this is not just about somebody who is incredibly powerful or can fly around and even shoot photon blasts out of her hands. It is somebody who is very human, who is very vulnerable, and who has multiple dimensions.”

As we all knew, Tony Stark debuted in Iron Man, kicking off the MCU. While there is not an official “leader” of the Avengers, both Iron Man and Captain America have been the most prominent figures in the franchise, as it’s the lessons that they learned over the course of their lives that would motivate their heroism. In the regard, it seems as though Captain Marvel would make a better choice to drive the MCU forward than, say, the Guardians of the Galaxy.

“When we found out Brie Larson might be interested in joining our world, we had a number of meetings,” added Kevin Feige. “She was a huge fan of her character in the comics. And one of the highlights of my career at Marvel was introducing Brie at Comic-Con and having her come out on stage; then she stands there with literally almost everybody else from our movies. There she was at the forefront, and that was a great foreshadowing – not just for how audiences are going to embrace her as the character, but also for how Captain Marvel is about to take the lead and she’ll be at the forefront of this entire Cinematic Universe.”

Based on the popularity of Captain Marvel, the formula of Kevin Feige looks to be proving correct about the future face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel is already in theaters.

The Original Ending of “Captain Marvel” Revealed

Entering the film’s second weekend at the box office, Captain Marvel is yet another bonafide hit for Marvel Studios. While still positioning Carol Danvers for her major role in the future, the comic book movie has explored an era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that fans have yet to see. Captain Marvel ended on an optimistic note, giving the heroine a clear goal moving forward, but it was not always planned that way.

During an interview with editor Debbie Berman, who previously handled Spider-Man: Homecoming and Black Panther, she revealed that Captain Marvel directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden originally had different plans for the ending of this blockbuster.

Warning: spoilers for Captain Marvel.

“Actually I did suggest some tweaks to the ending of this film. It used to end with Carol Danvers flying off into space alone. But I found that a bit jarring,” Berman shared with Entertainment Tonight. “It’s like, exactly where was she going? What was she doing? And it felt like we needed a stronger visual to assert a more specific justification for her leaving and disappearing for so many years.”

“So we added Talos and his family in their spaceship waiting for her, and they all fly off together. That gave her more of a sense of purpose and made it easier to believe that she left her newfound life on Earth because she was with a friend we knew she cared about, and for a more specific mission. It also gave more resonance and closure to her final moment in the film,” added Berman.

And at the end of the film, Captain Marvel has learned of the Kree’s deception and their attempts to eradicate the Skrulls. So Carol changes allegiances and decides to help the Skrulls find a new homeworld.

That shift might have lost some its impact if Captain Marvel just flew up into space by herself. However, seeing her join the surviving Skrulls makes it clear that she has a clear goal moving forward. Eventually, Debbie Berman did help improve the movie and helped establish a potential sequel for the future.

Captain Marvel is playing in theaters now.

“Captain Marvel” Star Brie Larson Reveals Her Favorite Superhero Is Wonder Woman

Currently, Brie Larson’s portrayal of Captain Marvel is commanding the box office. And it looks like another female superhero has a special place in her heart.

During an interview with The Female Lead on the film’s red carpet, a young fan asked Brie Larson what female superhero is her favorite. And the actress revealed, she’s a fan of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman from DC.

“I really like Wonder Woman a lot,” Larson said. “I think she is super cool.”

Brie Larson has mentioned Wonder Woman in a fair share of other interviews. Recently, the director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins took to social media to congratulate the team behind Captain Marvel on its success. And the film star Gal Gadot also shared artwork of the two with her kind words to Larson.

With Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel being the first two female-fronted solo superhero films in the modern-day DC and Marvel cinematic universes, it is safe to say that both have ended up making quite an impact.

“What was great about Wonder Woman was talking to female audience members afterward about how they felt watching the movie,” said the executive producer Jonathan Schwartz. “A lot of people I talked to just said. ‘I have never felt like that watching a movie before in my entire life. The character resonated with me in the ways I did not even know a character could resonate with me.’ That was so great to hear, and kind of an amazing thing.”

“I think the movie helped us understand how important movies like that are,” continued Schwartz. “So, in terms of making the movie [Wonder Woman] feel distinct, I think all these films chart their own courses anyway. And I think that means making the movie feel distinct. Not just from other female-led movies, but from all the Marvel movies as well, which I think we’ll try to do in every movie. It was not a new challenge necessarily. But it was the one I think we were extra-excited for because of the nature of what this movie means to people.”

Captain Marvel is now in theaters. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies include Avengers: Endgame will be following on April 26, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.

Upcoming DC films include:

  • Shazam! on April 5
  • Joker on October 10
  • Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020
  • Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020
  • The Batman on June 25, 2021
  • The Suicide Squad on August 6, 2021
  • Aquaman 2 on December 16, 2022.

“Captain Marvel” Becomes the Highest Grossing Film of 2019 So Far Within Only 3 Days

Since Captain Marvel has only been hitting theaters for three days, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film is already the highest grossing film for 2019 so far.

At the moment, with its opening weekend total of $157 million, Captain Marvel is not just soaring to the top of the box office for the weekend, it is also sitting there as the top-grossing blockbuster thus far for 2019. Obviously, that is an impressive feat when we realize that in order to become the top-grossing movie at the box office, the Brie Larson-starring movie is beating the total domestic box office take for the full theatrical run of the rest of the film.

At present, the closest competitor of Captain Marvel is How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. The movie, which is currently sitting at $119.7 million, opened since February 22. Coming in third is M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson, with $109.7 million.

However, while Captain Marvel is unlikely to maintain the overall top spot by year’s end, there are still quite a few movies hitting theaters yet in 2019, including the massively-anticipated Avengers: Endgame – if the box office success continues, Captain Marvel could remain pretty high on the list.

As the first Marvel Studios film headlined by a heroine, Captain Marvel has drawn some comparisons to Black Panther, which was the first movie led by a black hero in MCU.

In addition to the impressive opening domestically, Captain Marvel is also set for a $455 million global – the biggest worldwide opening ever for a female-led movie. Furthermore, this blockbuster is also the second-largest global opening ever for a Marvel Studios film, right behind only last year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

So, are you surprised by Captain Marvel’s box office success? The film is already in theaters now.

“Captain Marvel:” A Surprising Connection Between Brie Larson and The Umbrella Academy

What if Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has forgotten her powers as a result of the events of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy?

…Wait, what?

Recently, favorite fan artist BossLogic has pointed out that Brie Larson, whose Captain Marvel is now the #1 movie in the world so far and has already earned almost $500 million globally within only four days, happens to coincidentally (?!) be born on the same day that the superhuman characters in The Umbrella Academy were all born.

Check out the post.

You can read The Umbrella Academy synopsis below.

“43 infants are inexplicably born to random and unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven of them are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his ‘children’ to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In the teenage years, their family fractured, and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving 30-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. Luther, Allison, Diego, Vanya, Klaus, and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But once again, the estranged family begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and their abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.”

Alongside the Umbrella comics writer, My Chemical Romance standout Gerard Way helped develop the series.

It is based on the series of comics from Dark Horse Comics, published over the last decade. And Gerard Way collaborates on the series with a collaborator, Gabriel Ba.

In some previous reports, the story will take place throughout eight graphic novels, which will be serialized as monthly comics ahead of their full publication.

Of the eight novels, Dark Horse Comics has published two in full. The first is The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite, which debuted beginning in 2007 and ending in 2008. And the sequel, The Umbrella Academy: Dallas, followed in 2008 through 2009.

There was a decade-long hiatus after the conclusion of Dallas. The third graphic novel, The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion, began serialization in 2018 then continues into 2019. The work is reportedly already underway on the fourth Umbrella Academy series.

So, what do you think of this potentially interesting connection? Let us know in the comments!

Captain Marvel is now in theaters.

The Umbrella Academy is available on Netflix.

“Wonder Woman” Star Gal Gadot Congratulates “Captain Marvel” Star Brie Larson

Recently, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot offered her congratulations to Brie Larson for Captain Marvel during its big opening weekend.

Gal Gadot posted to her Instagram Story, sharing artwork of herself Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel together, with kind words for Brie Larson.

“I am so happy for you sister! Congrats,” Gadot wrote.

Wonder Woman, the first female-led movie in the DC Extended Universe, broke records when it was released back in 2017. And now, Captain Marvel is following suit, breaking records as the first female-led Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

Captain Marvel has earned $455 million global opening weekend, becoming the biggest global opening ever for a female-led movie. That is also the second-largest global opening ever for a Marvel Studios film, behind only last year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Furthermore, the blockbuster’s opening weekend total brings the MCU’s combined box office gross after 31 movies to $17.98 billion. With Captain Marvel’s entire theatrical run ahead, not to mention the openings of upcoming Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, it will not be long before the Marvel Studios film hits that $18 billion.

The film opened with $153 million domestically. That makes it become the seventh-largest domestic opening weekend for an Marvel Cinematic Universe film, landing above Guardians of the Galaxy and right below Iron Man 3. It’s also the second-highest domestic opening weekend for a solo Marvel Cinematic Universe character debit, behind only last year’s Black Panther.

Previously, during a visit to the set of Captain Marvel, the executive producer, Jonathan Schwartz, also revealed how the film got inspired by DC’s Wonder Woman.

As for Gal Gadot, the star will be reprising her role in Wonder Woman 1984, which is set to hit theaters on June 5, 2020.

“Captain Marvel:” Stan Lee Cameo Revealed

Captain Marvel has arrived in theaters, delivering the highly-anticipated debut of Brie Larson’s ever-powerful heroine. While there’s certainly a lot to be excited about in this blockbuster, it is also a little bit moody, as it’s the first MCU film to hit theaters since Marvel legend Stan Lee passed away late last year. Alongside a touching tribute to Lee right at the beginning of the movie, Captain Marvel provides one of the late creator’s best cameos to-date.

This article contains a minor spoiler for Captain Marvel. Continue reading at your own risk.

The cameo of Stan Lee comes early in Captain Marvel, during the train scene in which Carol fights against a Skrull masking itself as an old woman. When Carol first boards the train, she is looking around at every passenger, trying to figure out which one is the shape-shifting Skrull.

And as you can probably guess, one of these people is none other than Stan Lee. If he was just sitting in a seat, this would not have been much of a cameo. But it is what Lee was doing when Carol saw him that took it to a new level.

Lee is sitting in his seat and reading the script for Mallrats. It’s the second feature film from the filmmaker and eternal comic book fan, Kevin Smith, who recently also expressed how much the cameo meant to him. If you recall, Stan Lee did have a substantial cameo in Mallrats, where he played himself, taking his part in a signing at a local comic book store. Then, Lee offered some solemn advice to the main characters of the movie, played by Jeremy London and Jason Lee. Not only was Lee reading the script, but he was going over the lines that he actually speaks in the film.

This is obviously a great throwback to the time period where Captain Marvel is set, as the film took place in 1995, the same year when Mallrats was released as well. Captain Marvel also brings a great tribute to Lee’s first modern movie cameo, the role that began one of the most storied trends in Marvel history.

So, how do you feel about Stan Lee’s cameo in Captain Marvel? The film is now playing in theaters.

“Captain Marvel” Script Almost Started With Carol Danvers on Earth

Minor spoilers for Captain Marvel up ahead. Please proceed with caution if you have yet to see the film.

Captain Marvel lifted off this past weekend, and the first chunk of the movie took place in space on alien planets, as we had seen in the trailers and marketing leading up to the film. According to co-director Ryan Fleck, the film nearly had much a different beginning that would have seen Carol Danvers (star Brie Larson) started off on Earth.

Between training on Hala with Yon-Rogg (star Jude Law) and covert Starforce options across the cosmos, Carol Danvers followed space adventures for a good chunk of the first act. And between the dreams she had as the film opened to the flashbacks while she was experimented on by the Skrulls, moviegoers only saw Earth in some brief glimpses.

Ryan Fleck revealed that at first, the film almost started with Carol Danvers’ time as a part of the United States Air Force.

“The original opening to the script was, indeed, a simulated combat situation in her fighter jets,” the director told Empire. “There was even a whole Top Gun-style sequence that we were planning to shoot for a while. It was an awesome introduction to Carol Danvers and Maria Rambeau, though. And I think it’d have been fun for the audience to meet them on Earth as humans. The problem with that is the audience could be so far ahead of the story.”

But you’d have already known, and viscerally felt, her as a human,” Fleck continued. “When she’s uncovering her past and feeling a bit freaked out by it, I think it is much more effective.”

Even then, this cut has made theaters was essentially Top Gun 2. So it would appear they accomplished what they set out to do even by changing the initial opening to the film.

Captain Marvel is in theaters now. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films include Avengers: Endgame on April 26 and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 7.

“Captain Marvel:” Kevin Smith Reveals How He Found Out About Stan Lee’s Cameo

The following contains minor Captain Marvel spoilers.

By now, it’s no longer a secret when Kevin Smith finally got a cameo of sorts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film by way of Stan Lee’s cameo in Captain Marvel. He’s been pretty outspoken about how much that moment meant to him. Now, though, Smith reveals when he figured out about the cameo. And it turns out that Smith got the word from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

You can watch his full video below.

In Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers (star Brie Larson) is tracking down some Skrulls who showed up on Earth, and she ends up pursuing them onto a train. While working her way through the train in pursuit, Carol happens upon a man reading the Mallrats script while going over a line, “Trust me, True Believer. That man is none other than Stan Lee. And the movie script is one of Kevin Smith’s early movie projects.

Since Lee passed away last November, that moment became a powerful one for fans of both Lee and Kevin Smith.

The filmmaker, unsurprisingly, moved to tears when he found out about the cameo months in advance from Kevin Feige.

“I know it before I got to the theater,” Kevin Smith explains in his YouTube video. “I got a phone call a couple of months back after Lee passed away from the great Kevin Feige over at Marvel Studios and naturally when f**ing Feige calls; you pick up the phone right away!’”

Kevin Smith went on to explain that after reminiscing about Lee, the Marvel Studios president broke the news about Lee’s cameo.

“Kevin [Feige] was like ‘I read your Stan thing,’ because I had put up an Instagram post after Stan passed and he was like ‘I heard the podcast,’” Smith said. “So we’re talking about how bummed we were that Stan had passed. Then Kevin goes ‘well, I’m calling you with a very specific reason,’ and he goes ‘I gotta tell you this but you cannot tell anybody. In order for me to go forward, I have gotta tell you Stan’s cameo in Captain Marvel.”

For Kevin Smith, that moment was especially touching.

Lee was his longtime friend, but it also represented a full-circle moment of sorts. As Lee previously mentioned in his reaction to the cameo on Twitter, after his own years of referencing the films, that did reference him.

“I’m a blubbering mess,” Smith expressed about his Captain Marvel reaction. “After a lifetime spent referencing the movies, the movies just referenced me! Many thanks to Marvel Studios and my friend Stan Lee four the shout-out!”

Captain Marvel is now in theaters. Other upcoming MCU movies include Avengers: Endgame on April 26, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.

By the way, did you catch the Mallrats shout out in the film? What is your favorite Stan Lee’s cameo of all time? Share with us in the comments below!

“Captain Marvel” Gets Awesomely ‘90s Throwback on Marvel Website

With Captain Marvel hitting closer, now the movie has a fantastic makeover for fans to enjoy. The official site travels back to the 1990s, turning itself into a Geocities or Angelfire-like background.

That new 8-bit theme will take fans back to their 90s dial-up days with colorful fonts, alongside blocky grey square buttons, images and animations as well – that you would typically find on an old GeoCities site. Animated ships and Captain Marvel adorn the home page, while the Skrull lady from the trailer pops up so often on different parts of the screen.

The nostalgia loop goes further though, as when you go to the multimedia screen, you will get two tiny boxes: one with images while the other with an old-school looking video player that plays the Captain Marvel trailer. There is also a find the Skrull game that asks whether the people in the image are human or Skrulls, with a guestbook that you can sign.

(Photo: Marvel Entertainment)

Furthermore, there is a top secret Nick Fury section, which has blinking GIFs of him petting Goose the cat. The world’s Top Secret are sprawled across the picture of Nick Fury. So we are still not sure if this will change over time.

(Photo: Marvel Entertainment)

In addition to the 90s-accurate guest book feature, the site also features the iconic hit counter that 90s kids are all familiar with. Captain Marvel is a prequel to the majority of Marvel Cinematic Universe films, set sometime in the mid-1990s.

(Photo: Marvel Entertainment)

Definitely, it is an awesome way to tie-into the time period. And you can check it out at the official site.

Since the first few trailers of Captain Marvel,

Fans have had plenty of cool throwbacks to the 90s, including not only the style of the time but also the scene Carol Danvers crashing into a BlockBuster video store in the very first trailer. We will no doubt see more by the time the film ends. And we cannot wait to see what other easter eggs make it into the movie.

When asked why Captain Marvel was set in that period, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously explained that it was an era that the shared entertainment universe has yet to explore.

“The answer is, you will see in the storytelling of the movie,” said Feige. “It allows us to play in an era that we’ve never played in before. Tapping into the ‘90s action genre was fun for us. And being able to see that earlier part of MCU before Nick Fury knew anything about the aliens or super-powered people and also tapping into the Kree-Skrull War – which in the comics was the huge part of comic mythology. That seemed like a fun thing to try and a fun way to give Carol Danvers her own standalone origin story.”

Captain Marvel star Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Djimon Hounson (Korath), Lee Pace (Ronan). Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), McKenna Grace, Rune Temte, Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.

“Captain Marvel” Cast Members Were Not Fans of Goose the Cat

The upcoming film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be putting the spotlight on character fans are excited to see. That’s right. We are talking about Goose the cat in Captain Marvel.

While many fans might be eager to see the ferocious feline on the big screen, it was not always easy on the set. However, cast members like Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson weren’t fans of the co-starring cat.

“I am severely allergic. It is not sort of like ‘diva,’ we could not work together,” Larson explained about her time sharing scenes with Goose.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s experience was similar. The Nick Fury actor revealed he was not a fan of his scenes with Goose’s main actor, Reggie the cat.

“No, I am not a cat person,” said Jackson. “But I am also not a dog person or fish person either. Reggie is like most of the animals that people bring to the set that has been trained to do this, that, or other. He’s snack orientated. He shows off. Then you give him something to eat, you talk softly and be nice to him, and give him something to eat again. Actually, there were four cats, but Reggie did the majority of the heavy lifting, most of the time.”

Goose has become a hit with fans after the first several trailers.

Now the cat and undercover Flerken have her own massive banner that features Goose wearing some slick aviator glasses. Over Reddit, a user discovered this banner that seems coming from an international trailer. It’s fantastic looking. And regardless whether you know what Captain Marvel is you will definitely be interested after catching this in your local theater.

New Captain Marvel Banner from marvelstudios

Obviously, what the banner doesn’t reveal is whether Goose (who goes by Chewie in the comics) will retain her Flerken origins. If you are unfamiliar, Chewie is discovered to be part of a species that takes the form of cats to blend in but are actually capable of much more than the ordinary cat.

Furthermore, the cat’s difficult nature might play into the authenticity of the movie’s storytelling, as Goose does not seem to be a cat at all. While the merchandise did confirm the cat might have some extraterrestrial qualities, the film’s co-star Lashana Lynch clarified that Goose is anything but a normal cat.

“It is not fully a cat. It is a mysterious cat. The cat does things that we did not expect it to do. And it is very surprising. It could happen at random times,” the actress said during a set visit last year. “So I interact with the cat in the hat? That’s something you touched on. [laugh] I have not gotten one more. I should have been more. Yes, I do. Although I don’t hold the cat, I’m around it a lot.”

We will learn the true nature of Goose the cat when Captain Marvel premieres in theaters on March 8.

“Captain Marvel” Tracking For Over $100 Million Opening Weekend

Captain Marvel, the newest superhero film from Disney, is looking to become a monster hit on the opening weekend. According to early tracking numbers, the first female-fronted superhero movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on track to earn more than a $100 million-plus debut.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that studios tracking the metrics for the film were calling it “giant” and reportedly said there was “unaided awareness and definite interest.”

This would make it become the biggest box-office debut since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hit theaters last June, with its opening weekend netting $148 million. Moreover, Captain Marvel could possibly beat out Wonder Woman (2017), the first female-led heroine movie in the DC Extended Universe grossed $103 million domestically.

Whether the upcoming blockbuster can surpass those numbers remains unseen, but you should never bet against Cap.

With that $100 million-plus debut, Captain Marvel could overtake several of its Marvel Studios brethren.

That would put the film ahead of Ant-Man and the Wasp ($75M), Doctor Strange ($85M). Thor: The Dark World ($85M), Guardians of the Galaxy ($94M). Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95M), and Iron Man ($98M). Still, we are not sure if the movie can catch Spider-Man: Homecoming on opening weekend, which sits at $117 million, but it definitely could. Other nearby films are Thor: Ragnarok ($117M), and Iron Man 2 ($128M). However, we’ll have to wait and see.

There are still three weeks until Captain Marvel hits theaters. That means Marvel Studios has plenty of time to drum up even more interest and also reveal more information in the trailers, giving the film more chances at its box office success.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Djimon Hounson (Korath), Lee Pace (Ronan). Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace. Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), with Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel premieres on March 8.

“Captain Marvel:” New Photo of Ronan Arrives

While the countdown to Captain Marvel continues to tick down, fans are ready for their first adventure with the most powerful heroine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The ‘90s set film will feature the returns of many familiar faces, including the intimidating Guardians of the Galaxy villain Ronan, the Accuser of the Kree Empire. Recently, Disney has released a new photo of the character, showing a more comic book-accurate version of the Marvel villain.

You can take the full look at Ronan below.

(Photo: Disney)

Obviously, as we see in the new image, Ronan’s armor incorporates the classic teal colors of the Kree Empire’s Starforce. And it matches more closely with what Carol Danvers and her allies wear in the movie. Moreover, we also catch his face unmarred by the markings of blood he puts on himself in Guardians of the Galaxy. And it shows that this is a less intense version of the character at a different stage in life.

During a set visit, Jonathan Schwartz, the producer of Captain Marvel previously addressed this version of Ronan, played by Lee Pace. He then explained how the character changed between the events of the film as well as Guardians of the Galaxy.

“It is an earlier version of Ronan, who hasn’t become the radical zealot that we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy,” Schwartz said. “So he has his own station in the Kree society, on Hala. And he has his own role to play in the Kree military that interestingly intersects with Starforce.”

While the film doesn’t relate directly to the events of Marvel Studios’ first cosmic movie, there’ll be a through line that fans can follow to see how Ronan becomes the Xander-hating terrorist on at war with the Nova Corps.

“Just like there is a Nick Fury origin story buried in the movie. Buried a little bit deeper is the Ronan origin story,” added Schwartz.

Meanwhile, Carol Danvers also has difficulty navigating her path with the Kree, which will be a major point of the movie.

“I mean, lots of the movie is about Carol Danvers not remembering her human past,” said Schwartz. “When we meet Carol at the beginning of the film, she believes that she’s a Kree, and kind of has been inducted into the army. She is proud as a person. She loves being a Kree. Then over the course of her adventure, she realized there was more to her story than that. So the film kind of becomes her unraveling the root of her own origin, and the root of her own mystery.”

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.

All the Marvel, DC, Disney, and Star Wars Films Releasing in 2019

The last 2018 was a huge year for movies, especially when it comes to franchises and studios that comic fans adore. Disney, Sony, Fox, Paramount, Marvel Studios, and Warner Bros. all put out big films in the last year. But it appears that 2019 will become even bigger. In the meantime, we have got all the films you need to mark your calendars for in this one handy place.

Before we get to 2019 though, the studios all put some great movies just in December alone, which was packed with geeky goodness. If you are a superhero movie fan, you got Aquaman and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. As for fans of Disney, then you got Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins Returns. And if you are a Transformers fan, Bumblebee was right up your alley, making it quite a month for fans.

In speaking of recent Aquaman, Warner Bros. only put out one DC film this year, but boy did they make it count. The blockbuster Aquaman has already sailed past the $1 billion marks worldwide and is already to the top-grossing DC movie ever. However, that is not a shabby way to end the year. And in 2019, DC is upping the ante with two films on the slate.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios had the incredibly successful Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year. The film surpassed the $2 billion mark and expectedly stays the same for the even more anticipated Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Actually, Marvel Studios has two movies coming out during the first half of the year, while Sony is following up the massive success of Venom with a new Spider-Man movie.

As for the House of Mouse, it looks as if they’re going to dominate in 2019 just like they did in 2018, with three live-action remakes on the horizon as well as other anticipated projects, both in animation and live-action. So yeah, Disney is probably going to crush it, especially when you consider that whole Star Wars Episode IX is coming at the end of this year.

And 20th Century Fox will soon come home to Disney. However, before they’re completely moved over, Fox still has a few movies up their sleeves.

Now, scroll down 16 headlines to see all the Disney, Marvel, DC, and Star Wars films hitting in 2019!

Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits a peculiar pachyderm for his newest and larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. How Nick Fury’s Relationship with Carol Danvers is Different in “Captain Marvel”

When Nick Fury encounters Carol Danvers for the first time in Captain Marvel, he’ll be a younger and less cynical character than the version of Fury that fans saw at the end of Iron Man.

That will also extend to his relationship with Captain Marvel herself, who will become the first superhero Nick Fury has ever met. According to executive producer, Jonathan Schwartz, this means a lot less sarcasm and bluster and even a bit more open-mindedness.

“I think it benefits in the uniqueness by having Carol be the first superhero he has ever encountered or really heard of in his life,” Schwartz spoke to a set visit last year with Comicbook. “She kind of gets to be the window to him for this entire and bigger universe. So, he is a little, a little less of them. I know everything there’s to know. Nick Fury that we see in the later movies, and a little more, perhaps, open to new ideas.”

That’ll lead to some interesting dynamics not only with Carol Danvers but likely also with Agent Phil Coulson. The character worked under Nick Fury in the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seemingly is one of Fury’s only real friends in the modern-day storyline set 25 years after Captain Marvel or so.

Meanwhile, the promotion for Captain Marvel has been steadily accelerating over the last month or so.

And it’ll continue to do so as the March 8th release date approaches. Still, there is a certain level of hype surrounding the film solely because it is produced by Marvel Studios. But people are most excited for the debut of the first standalone female hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Carol Danvers will be making her first big-screen appearance in Captain Marvel. Though her debut was alluded to at the end of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War in the form of Nick Fury’s pager.

Captain Marvel stars Academy Award-winner Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Lee Pace (Ronan), Djimon Hounsou (Korath). Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan (Min-Erva), alongside Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace. Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8. Other upcoming MCU movies include Avengers: Endgame on April 26 and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5 this year.

“Captain Marvel” Producer Revealed How They Got Inspired From “Wonder Woman”

Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters this year with a binary bang, but the heroine is not the first to take over Hollywood. It was not long ago that Wonder Woman broke barriers with her solo venture. And it seems that Carol Danvers will be taking cues from her DC Comics predecessor.

Recently, during a visit to the set of Captain Marvel, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz was asked if – and how – Wonder Woman influenced the MCU film. And he had the following to say.

“What’s so great about Wonder Woman was talking to female audience members afterward about how they felt watching the movie. A lot of people I talked to said, ‘I have never felt like that watching a movie before in my entire life. The character resonated [with] me in ways I did not even know that a character could resonate with me.’ That was great to hear, and kind of an amazing thing,” the producer said to Comicbook.

“I think it [Wonder Woman] helped us understand how important movies like that are. So that in terms of making the movie feel distinct, all those movies chart their own courses anyway. I think that means making the film feel distinct, not just from other female-lead movies, but all the other Marvel movies as well, that we try to do in every movie. It was not a new challenge necessarily. But it was the one I think we were extra-excited for because of the nature of what this movie means to people.”

It is no secret that Wonder Woman sat well with both fans and critics upon its release. And now Captain Marvel looks like it will land in the same way.

To date, reactions to the film have still been positive on social network media. And the star behind Captain Marvel, Brie Larson, has become a clear favorite within the MCU already. Still, the actress says she hopes fans will be able to break down Captain Marvel like any other film and not praise it blindly for the sake of female empowerment.

“It does not matter what I make. I really feel firm that art is made to be enjoyed and interpreted. And you will get what you need out of it,” Larson said in a recent interview. “My favorite books I have read many times in life, and they mean something totally different to me every time I read them. Art is not made to be processed and labeled or organized in the way that we do it now. Even I have a hard time with that idea of genre. And we place value based off of, ‘Well, it is really good for this kind of movie.’ What is that even mean? I don’t understand.”

“It will be what it is. And I think there is gonna be a lot there for people to digest and feel,” she continued. “Hopefully it will become the movie that you just want to revisit again and again. As life goes on, it will have more to it. And I just want to make art that lasts. I want to make art you’ll grow with. That’s all.”

“Captain Marvel:” Korath Breaks Down Relationship with Carol Danvers

When Captain Marvel hits theaters in March, it will be showing fans a time period in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has just been glimpsed on the big screen.

Some villains will become heroes, like Korath from the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Although he aided Ronan in his effort to secure the Power Stone, Korath the Pursuer will become one of Carol Danvers’ allies in the Starforce.

During a visit to the set of Captain Marvel, actor Djimon Hounsou revealed about his character’s relationship with Carol Danvers.

“As far as the story based uniquely on this is concerned. I feel like Carol is the type of person that takes joy at taking the piss at me all the time, cause I am sort of very machine-like, very framed, and driven. I think, the lack of not being so flexible and playful, she takes a piss at that,” said Hounsou.

So it sounds like Korath is not much different from his appearance in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but is not quite a zealot at this point.

While the journey of Korath will play a part in the new movie, it’ll also see his leader in Ronan the Accuser, who will undergo some changes in Captain Marvel.

The producer Jonathan Schwartz previously spoke about Ronan’s role and how he figures into the new Marvel Studios film.

“It is an earlier version of Ronan. He hasn’t become the radical zealot that we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy,” mentioned Schwartz. “So he has his own station in the Kree society, on Hala. And he has his own role to play in the Kree military that interestingly intersects with Starforce.”

Addressing the changes made to Ronan’s character, Schwartz also compared the Kree Accuser’s journey to that of Nick Fury.

“Just like there is a Nick Fury origin story buried in this movie,” the producer said. “Buried a little bit deeper is the origin story of Ronan.”
