Black Panther Star Chadwick Boseman Passed Away at 43

This Friday evening, August 28, 2020, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman has passed away at home with his wife and family by his side. A new report from AP says the actor, best known for his iconic role as T’Challa in the Marvel Studios franchise, has died after a battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Chadwick had been quietly struggling with the illness for the past four years. He was 43. A true fighter.
— Chadwick Boseman (@chadwickboseman) August 29, 2020
“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.
It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.
He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.
The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.” – the statement reads.
Born and raised in South Carolina, Boseman studied directing at Howard University and soon built his own acting career playing historic Black icons like Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, Brown in Get on Up, and Robinson in 42. But perhaps he was best known for the history-making role as T’Challa in Black Panther, the leader of a fictional African nation Wakanda in Captain America: Civil War (2016), before starring in his own solo film, Marvel’s first Best Picture nominee ever, Black Panther. The Ryan Coogler’s movie is also the first Black superhero to headline a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It even went on to score a record-breaking $1.3 billion at the box office and become a cultural phenomenon that transcended the studio’s superhero formula. Last year, the actor told GQ about the larger-than-life status his role of Black Panther quickly became:
“I try to remove myself from the impact of the movie, because I have to get back to work. I can’t rest on my laurels. At the same time, it’s a joy to see, even more so than this award, just the effect the film has on different people from various walks of life, no matter what race, gender or age. To be a part of something that has affected people in different countries, that is humbling, and liberating.”
Boseman was also gearing up for his return on the big screen in Marvel’s Black Panther II, which had not yet begun filming but was expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2022. This seems to be such a tough time for the studio.
Our hearts are broken and our thoughts are with Chadwick Boseman’s family. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest In Peace. pic.twitter.com/DyibBLoBxz
— Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios) August 29, 2020
“Chadwick’s passing is absolutely devastating,” Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios said in a statement. “He was our T’Challa, our Black Panther, and our dear friend. Each time he stepped on set, he radiated charisma and joy, and each time he appeared on screen, he created something truly indelible. He embodied a lot of amazing people in his work, and nobody was better at bringing great men to life. He was as smart and kind and powerful and strong as any person he portrayed. Now he takes his place alongside them as an icon for the ages. The Marvel Studios family deeply mourns his loss, and we are grieving tonight with his family.”
It didn’t take long for the world to react to this tragic and stunning loss. The news came as a shock to the public since the actor had never spoken about his cancer diagnosis. Social media now floods with tributes to this young man who had touched so many lives with not only his performances but also his kindness.

And it was the importance of the representation Chadwick Boseman’s performance personified that struck a chord with so many African-American fans, and beyond. For countless fans, they saw in T’Challa something they didn’t get to see nearly as often in a blockbuster. A Black superhero. And it was life-affirming:
Dear @chadwickboseman,
I know I’m talking to the moon but thank you. You gave black folks a new sense of hope, we saw a black superhero. You weren’t fiction to us, your role was as real as the pain many of us feel today! Thank you, may you rest up now!????✊???? pic.twitter.com/jUC12sDeiw
— Bruce Franks Jr (@brucefranksjr) August 29, 2020
While many now have come to realize that while Boseman was battling cancer, he was continuing to create memorable work in movies like Da 5 Bloods, 21 Bridges, and the one-two punch of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The native South Carolinian did play significant historical figures, and superheroes. His revolutionary turn as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to kick open a door for heroes of all colors in the superhero genre. The impact of Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-winning movie, and the battle cry “Wakanda Forever,” left Boseman’s stamp on our culture. The memory of his accomplishments will live on for decades behind the day he left us.
I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heartbreaking.

Spider-Man
Spider-Man Officially Comes Back to Marvel for the Third Movie!

Ever since the news first broke that Sony Pictures decided to move on with the Spider-Man franchise without the involvement of Disney and Marvel Studios, rumblings and rumors have persisted while fans were super thrilled to know whether the studios would ever be able to reach a new agreement, bringing back Spider-Man to Marvel’s home. Eventually, after weeks of negotiations over his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now it looks like our friendly neighborhood officially returns for one more adventure!
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have agreed to make one final movie that will finish the trilogy that began with 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, effectively ending the intro trilogy of the Wall-Crawler with the MCU. The reports said the main cast from the first two movies is expected to return for this third and final Spidey film. That includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan. Co-produced by Sony’s Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, the final movie will be directed by Jon Watts.
As part of the deal, the third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland will not be the last adventure in the MCU, though which one was not unveiled. Kevin Feige said in a statement:
“I’m thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue. I and all of us at Marvel are very excited that we’ll get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is such a powerful icon and a hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spider-Verse, you’ll never know what surprises the future might hold.”
As for the other future MCU film which Spider-Man will actually appear in, it is likely to be some kind of team-up since that is what he previously showed up in for Marvel. Whether it could be Avengers 5 or a crossover with Venom, though, remains to be seen. For now, it means that the new deal of Sony and Disney allows the filmmakers to follow up the cliffhanger ending of Far From Home in the manner they originally intended. We will get to see what happens with Peter Parker after his secret identity was outed by J. Jonah Jameson.
“This is terrific,” Amy Pascal stated. “Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home, and I couldn’t be happier that we’ll all be working together as we see where his journey goes. This has also been a winning partnership for the studio, the franchise, and the fans and I am overjoyed it’ll continue.”
So now, fans can rest assured that Spidey will stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least for the time being. Sony and Marvel Studios set the film to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.

Avengers
Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga Trailer Released

Throughout the last decade, Marvel fans have been treated with the cultivation of the most successful superhero movie franchise in history, with over 20 films leading up to the epic events of Avengers: Endgame. Now all of these flicks have fallen under one banner, with Marvel Studios treating each entry as an important installment of The Infinity Saga. The series might have come to a close with Iron Man snapping his fingers, eventually eliminating the threat of Thanos and the Infinity Stones. However, this story will continue to play a major part among fans of the franchise.
With a brand-new box set collecting all 23 movies thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans can prepare for the released with the first official trailer for the Infinity Saga. That was a surprise delight for fans who attended San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), and now it is available for the rest of the viewing public. You can watch the full trailer, in all its glory, above.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has previously been teasing the release of a major Infinity Saga collection for quite some time. And now we are getting our first glimpse of the narrative of the entire shared universe. While fans have been clamoring for something substantial from the major movie franchise, now it is here!
Still, there is no release date for the home video release of the Infinity Saga quite yet. However, Feige has made it clear that it would be worthwhile for many Marvel fans.
“If we do a big, a giant Infinity Saga box set, we might include – I am assuming if you are going to spend the money to buy a box set with everything in it, you are a fan,” Feige told Empire Magazine in a Q&A. “And it will take more than a couple of really, really bad scenes to turn you.”
There has also been a lot of talk about deleted scenes from Marvel films. And while not all of them have made the light of day, Kevin Feige already gave his statement.
“I like sharing those scenes,” he noted of a deleted Endgame sequence that was unveiled recently. “So when we have something like that that we love, and which even was not an easy decision to cut out but the best decision for the movie. It is a great avenue to say, ‘We will put it out there.’ It is not like nobody will ever see it. There are things that we think no-one should ever see. I think we have just recently been discussing that now we can start to show some of our less proud moments.”
Words coming out of SDCC suggested just how epic Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga trailer was. And now that it has made its way out into the world at larger, it is clear that those notices were not hyperbolic. Certainly, it remains to be seen if the next chapter of the MCU will measure up to what has come before, or if the Infinity Saga will end up being looked back on by fans as the peak of the franchise. Either way, millions cannot wait to find out.
Fantastic Four
Marvel Studios Reportedly Developing Silver Surfer Film

Theories have been popping up constantly regarding the MCU ever since Disney brought the Fantastic Four and X-Men characters back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe fold with the deal for 20th Century Fox. Since then, fans have wondered when they will start to see some of those characters appear in the MCU, whether that be their standalone movie or streaming on Disney+. According to a rumor from GWW, Marvel Studios is in their first stages of development on a Silver Surfer film.
Created by Disney Legend Jack Kirby, Silver Surfer a.k.a Norrin Radd made his first appearance in Fantastic Four #48 in 1966. His debut marked the introduction of the Galactus mythos, with Silver Surfer as one of his Heralds. The character then became a major part of the Marvel Universe, assisting the Fantastic Four, Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and joining the original Defenders. His first and only appearance on the big screen was in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), played by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne.
Still, things are early, so not much details of the project are unveiled beyond that its in the works. At one point, filmmaker Adam McKay previously said he would love to do a Silver Surfer movie. However, we are not sure if that is something he still has time to direct the film; or what Marvel is looking for as far as their vision for the character.
“Silver Surfer is the one I want to do, man. I’d do anything to do Silver Surfer because, visually, you could do what the Wachowskis did with Speed Racer with the Silver Surfer,” said Adam McKay. “At the same time, there is a great emotional story in there, where Norrin Radd has to make a choice to save his planet. So that would be the one, but I think Fox owns the rights…”
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also said in the past that the cosmos were the next place to be explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And with Eternals now in the works, and Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is already a cosmic success, it’s not shocking that the studio has big plans for Silver Surfer. It could also be a good way to introduce Fantastic Four, and probably the next big supervillain Galactus.
So, some of the biggest cosmic Marvel characters has made a return under the Disney/Fox merger, including the Fantastic Four, Galactus, Annihilus, and Silver Surfer. That would make sense to see these characters start to make their presence known over Marvel’s Phase 4 and beyond. The MCU cosmic side is not as deep as the earthbound side, although there has been quite a bit introduced since Iron Man kicked off things.
And if working towards an Annihilation style event is one of Marvel’s plans, introducing characters like the Surfer, Nova, Annihilus, and the Shiar Empire will be paramount. Now that can do just that. Whenever Silver Surfer is introduced, it will likely be in the form of a cameo in another movie or as part of an event film. But who knows, maybe Marvel will give him his own solo film as they did with Captain Marvel though. Either way, it is interesting to see if this will pan out.
So, are you looking for a potential Silver Surfer film? And what do you want to see from it? Share with us in the comments!
Black Widow
Iron Man Star Robert Downey Jr. Reportedly Returning to MCU for Black Widow

It looks like the casting for Black Widow spinoff has not done just quite yet. A new report from Deadline says MCU star Robert Downey Jr. will be appearing one last time as Tony Stark in the Scarlett Johansson film releasing next May. Black Widow will kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, actually set between the events of Civil War and Infinity War, making it a prequel rather than a continuation of the post-Endgame story.
While the casting of Robert Downey Jr. has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios just yet, fans still have their reason to believe that he will be reprising his role as Iron Man. However, potentially that could be just a cameo from Robert Downey Jr. or his very minor role.

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
Alongside Scarlett Johansson returning as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, the upcoming film will include David Harbour suiting up at Russian version of Captain America, Red Guardian, as well as Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh as other Black Widow agents. The main supervillain of Black Widow is Taskmaster – a formidable foe thanks to his “photogenic reflexes” that allow him to observe and copy any fighting style quickly.
During Marvel’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con last July, the clip of Tony Stark warning Natasha “They are coming for you” from Civil War is used before leading into new footage from the movie. That includes scenes of Natasha on the run, so it is implied Black Widow will explore the period when she is hiding from the United Nations. In that case, Natasha may seek out help from Tony or at least contact him at some point in the movie. Though during the airport battle, they helped Captain America to escape, Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff were still friends. And if Nat were truly in trouble, Tony would help out any way he could.
Then again, while Tony Stark coming to Natasha’s aide during Black Widow is a possibility, any involvement on Robert Downey Jr.’s part might also be for a flashback scene. Black Widow prequel will be exploring Natasha’s journey; it is also expected to develop her backstory further. This could involve flashbacks to her training in the Red Room, but it may include a new perspective on her time with Tony Stark during Iron Man 2. It may even be that Robert Downey Jr. does not film a new scene at all. Instead, his appearance in Black Widow is compiled from previously footage.
Whatever the reason for the return of Robert Downey Jr. in Black Widow, it is sure to be some time before anything official is announced publicly. After all, while it is possible Deadline accidentally revealed something that Marvel Studios wanted to be kept a secret, probably they just got their wires crossed.
Black Widow hits theaters on May 1st, 2020.

X-Men and Spider-Man: The Classic ‘90s Animated Series on Disney+ at Launch

With the launch of Disney+ just around the corner, the upcoming streaming service has provided us a few updates on what we can expect in terms of content. Fan-favorite Marvel Comics animated series from the ‘90s will be part of the initial offering for Disney+.
The Marvel classics will include animated series such as X-Men (1992), Spider-Man (1994), Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (1994), Spider-Man (1981), Spider-Woman (1979), Iron Man (1994), Fantastic Four (1994), Spider-Man Unlimited, Incredible Hulk, and Silver Surfer.
The Disney+ will also launch with new and old movies and TV series from Marvel, Star Wars, and other Disney imprints as well as their animated classics. The Marvel and Star Wars shows will be part of the canonical and shared cinematic universes inhabited by both brands and their catalog of characters. This news comes from a Twitter account dedicated to Disney+ updates.
Disney+ will have classic Marvel animated series like X-Men ‘92, Spider-Man ‘94, Spider-Woman ‘79, Spider-Man ‘81, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Iron Man ‘94, Fantastic Four ‘94, Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer, and Spider-Man Unlimited. pic.twitter.com/Yzj3DiZtwg
— Disney+ Updates (@moredisneyplus) September 12, 2019
Furthermore, it seems that Disney+ will be taking the Disney Afternoon into the digital frontier, as the streaming service announced an “ideal afternoon schedule” which suggests that they’ll be making several popular kids’ shows from generations past available on their platform. According to the tweet below, other classics like DuckTales, TaleSpin, Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers, Gargoyles, and Darkwing Duck will also be part of the upcoming lineup streaming exclusively on Disney+. While DuckTales has been revived in a new form and even has a “classic” art style, the rest of the series have not.

4:00 pm – TaleSpin

The hit ‘80s and ‘90s series can be streamed – even if you pay to buy or rent them – on Amazon Prime or some other platforms, but will not stream free anywhere as far as we can tell. Darkwing Duck doesn’t appear to be streaming even if you pay for it. For years, fans could not get their hands on decent-quality copies of the shows in questions, with DVD releases coming fairly late to the game. A number of older series that the House of Mouse has in their vaults, such as the original Muppet Babies and House at Pooh Corner, are still unavailable at all.
Disney+ kicks off on November 12 this year. The service will cost $6.99 per month (or $69.99 per year).
Spider-Man
Sony Says “Door is Closed” on Spider-Man in the MCU

Spidey fans hoping to see the friendly neighborhood return to the MCU after Sony and Marvel Studios split are out of luck now. It looks like they will have to wait a little longer. Maybe a lot longer. Recently, Sony Pictures has spoken out about this subject, showing no signs of intention in taking back their collaboration with Disney any further, at least for now.
At Variety’s Entertainment & Technology summit, Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra opened up about the future of Spider-Man in the MCU, saying: “For the moment the door is closed.”
Rather, Sony will push forward with their own cinematic universe focused largely on Spider-Man characters. The initial deal allowed Spider-Man to appear in Marvel Studios films to co-exist with the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now it was expired following the success of Spider-Man: Far From Home and the fact that Marvel’s parent company Disney wanted a considerable lift in their cut of the box office revenue for Spidey movies. However, Sony essentially did not agree.

Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Tony Vinciquerra said there was “no ill will” between Sony and Marvel. That could be a good sign for a potential conversation in the future, and cryptically said, “It is a long life,” in regards to the subject.
“We had a great run with [Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige] on Spider-Man movies,” said Vinciquerra. “We tried to see if there is a way to work it out … the Marvel people are terrific. We have great respect for them; on the other hand, we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Feige did not do all the work.”
Still, Sony Pictures has no plans to slow down with their efforts on Spider-Man. Furthermore, according to the chairman, a Venom sequel is now on the way, along with “fix of six” shows based on the Spidey world. By the sound of it, the studio might just be adding Spider-Man to the world of Venom or other titles like Morbius. He also pointed to the massive success of the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as a proof that the studio is capable of going it solo in this superhero genre.
“Spider-Man was fine before the event movies. He did better with the event movies, and now we have our own universe. He’ll play off the other characters as well,” said Tony Vinciquerra. “I think we are pretty capable of doing what we have to do here.”
So at this point, the Spider-Man future seems only undetermined from the perspective of fans who have been still hoping to see him return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, Sony and Disney have both been firm on their stance of not collaborating going forward or so. Unless something changes, this could be the way the movies will go now.
Can Kevin Feige pull off another miracle? We have to wait and hope for it. Share your thoughts with us!
Captain America
The Marvel’s Phase 4 Will Feature Evil Captain Americas

Even though the saga of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already over, the 2020 storyline will be about evil Captain Americas. The latest Marvel film Avengers: Endgame may have given a poignant ending to the Star-Spangled Avenger’s adventures, but the MCU is not done exploring the impact and influence of Captain America. In fact, Black Widow and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will involve different, evil versions of Cap next year.
In Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Steve Rogers was enhanced by the Super-Soldier Serum, turning him into the greatest soldier in America history. Back then, he was frozen in ice in the waning days of World War II and resurrected right before the Avengers assembled in 2021. Since then, Steve Rogers has become the leader of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but still a fugitive from the law. His refusal to sign the Sokovia Accords in the Civil War made him a wanted international criminal to the point when Peter Parker’s gym teacher assumed Cap was a “war criminal.” However, his pure heart and desire to do the right thing has always rung true, and this, the Super Soldier Serum, is what truly made Steve Rogers both a hero and a good man.
Although the original Captain America is now out of the picture, and while Steve Rogers passed his Vibranium shield to Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie), his specter continues to loom large over the MCU. Here is how the Disney+ series and Black Widow will be toying with an evil version of Cap as well as the varying ways that would impact the MCU.
1. JOHN WALKER/U.S. AGENT IN THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER
Bucky Barnes as known as The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) could already be considered as the evil Russian alternative of Captain America, but now it looks like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will introduce another anti-Cap equivalent: Wyatt Russell as John Walker in the series streaming on Disney+. In Marvel Comics, John F. Walker was first introduced as Super-Patriot. Later he took over the Cap role from Steve Rogers before going on to become the U.S. Agent. While John Walker had similar abilities to Cap, he was also the opposite in temperament and personality – a stark contrast to the noble Steve.
It is unclear if John Walker will take on any of his comic book personae in that series. Since the U.S. Government already becomes uneasy about Sam Wilson inheriting Cap’s shield, plus he previously pals around with a former Russian assassin, the version of John Walker in The Falcon The Winter Soldier could show a third and even darker version of Captain America, that gives three different POVs on the meaning of Steve’s heroic legacy.
2. RED GUARDIAN IN BLACK WIDOW
Naturally, Russia craved their own version of Cap, and he’ll be introduced in Black Widow: David Harbour (Stranger Things) is playing Alexei Shostakov a.k.a. Red Guardian. In the comics, Red Guardian does not have superpowers, but he is a highly-trained hand-to-hand combatant – probably a graduate of the Red Room along with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). Red Guardian carries a shield similar to Captain America, that means he will be a different spin on the Star-Spangled Avenger. Furthermore, Red Guardian’s mysterious connection to Black Widow could shed light on why Natasha found it so easy to grow close to Steve when they were Avengers together.
3. ZOMBIE CAPTAIN AMERICA IN MARVEL’S WHAT IF…?

(Photo: Marvel)
Even though What If…? does not release next year, the series will feature an evil Captain America when it debuts. What If…? will portray several twisted scenarios drawn from the 23 MCU films, and one of them will involve a zombie Cap fighting the Winter Soldier. While Marvel Zombies is something comic book fans have been clamoring Marvel to do, and they did get a taste in Spider-Man: Far From Home when Spidey (Tom Holland) had to face a zombified Iron Man in one of the illusions from Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). And while Zombie Captain America is a straight-up horror take on one of the most beloved characters in the MCU, it will be interesting (and even creepy) to see an undead Steve Rogers portrayed as an outright monster.

Avengers
Avengers: Endgame Writers Explain Why Captain Marvel Was Not Around So Much

There have been speculations about the fact that Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) was given a limited role in Avengers: Endgame, though her presence had the potential to overshadow the story of the original members of the team. Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is one of the few people with a shot at being able to take down Thanos in a fight. That also meant she had the potential to resolve many of the conflicts in Endgame on her own.
The reveal of Captain Marvel happened during the post-credits scene of her solo movie, setting her up to join the Avengers for Endgame. However, the role of Carol Danvers in the film was more limited than fans might have e expected. She found Tony Stark in space, then helped to fight against Thanos, and was gone from the movie until the final battle. It was explained than Captain Marvel was helping other worlds after the Snap, which is why she was unable to assist during the time travel adventure to collect the Infinity Stones.
Recently, the Endgame writers have finally set the record straight. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed why they restricted their use of the super-powerful Captain Marvel. The reason is that it would have been “unfair” to the original six Avengers having an outside character come in and solve their problems.
“Well, she was always going to be in it, but we did not have much to go on. They [Marvel Studios] had cast her, and that was it,” Christopher Markus told Vanity Fair. “It’s a tough balance to strike when you have a character that powerful, who you are going to bring in. And you do not want it to seem like, ‘Well, we just brought in this person who can clean the house, that we could not clean in the previous film.’ So we had to decide on a balance between not making it feel like a cameo, but also not having her around so much that she solved all the problems for everybody.”
Stephen McFeely also pointed out that Captain Marvel’s superpowers had the potential to fix all of the problems in the film. And the purpose of this story was to focus on the original members of the team.
“It also was not the point of the movie,” McFeely explained. “The point of the second film was saying goodbye to the original six Avengers, so their stories were gonna be way up here. We also had the same issue a little bit with Black Panther in Infinity War because people go, ‘Oh! Black Panther, he is coming back two months from now! Alright, I’m going to get a lot of Black Panther!’ And he got some. I mean, we went to Wakanda, but he was not the lead character. So it was not fair to the other six Avengers to have Captain Marvel come in and solve all their problems. It did not seem like good storytelling.”
The duo also had their unique challenge of scripting a character who first filmed on Avengers: Endgame before he own standalone movie under directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden.
“So we sat with them and showed them the [Endgame] draft; we said, ‘Here is how she works in our movie, and here is how she sounds. Do you think this version of her, the version we had to decide on for our movie, that is 20 years after the hypothetical movie you are going to make – and have you done anything that would force you to do anything you did not want to do previously?’” Stephen McFeely told Backstory Magazine. “It was fine. But we certainly got their input.”
The Endgame screenwriters did review the Captain Marvel script during filming on Endgame, but according to Christopher Markus, “It was informative, but anything, it was too late to make any changes to ours.”
Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame are now available on Digital HD and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Dave Bautista Says Marvel Studios Doesn’t See Worth in Doing Drax Standalone Film

Dave Bautista is beloved for his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Studios’ hit Guardians of the Galaxy films, but he’s also a fan favorite off the movie set. One of the biggest reasons is that the actor never hesitates to share what is on his mind. Recently, he responded to a fan’s proposal of him playing a Batman villain with quite a bit of enthusiasm. Bautista then shared a story regarding that and elaborated a bit on his interest for the superhero genre. During that tweet, the actor said that Marvel Studios did not seem to see the worth in a Drax solo film.
“Point is I’m freaking love comic book characters, and I want a standalone,” he wrote on Twitter. “@MarvelStudios does not see the worth in #Drax or possibly myself or both, but I am not giving up. I missed out a DC project because of scheduling conflicts, but hopefully, there is other characters and opportunities.”
It seems that Dave Bautista is all for a Drax standalone movie, but even if that does not happen, he is not done with comic book characters by a longshot, as he also addressed the possibility of taking part in a DC project. Dave Bautista mentioned that he missed out on that due to scheduling conflicts, though he didn’t reveal what the project was.

Dave Bautista has been quite busy on the Marvel front over the past few years, so it could have been anything during the time between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Avengers: Endgame, as he was involved in some capacity in both of those as well as Guardians Vol. 2 and Infinity War.
The only current DCEU film that was shot before that was the original Man of Steel, so the role Dave Bautista is referencing could have been in movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Shazam!, which have all hit theaters since then.
Another potential role is that he is referring to a movie that is currently in production, and the most interesting project is The Suicide Squad. The film is being directed by James Gunn, who also helmed the Guardians films. James Gunn took the movie on during his ouster from Disney, although he’d eventually return to Marvel and the House of Mouse for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Dave Bautista will finish The Suicide Squad first though, so hopefully, we will get a cameo from him at least in the movie. But who knows? Maybe he will show up somewhere else in the DC universe after his run at Marvel is done.
